I don't think many players tackle to actually hurt anyone, maybe Roy Keane :)shifty:), but such laziness and poor timing and technique is what causes serious injury and deserves strict punishment.

Geez, you're not serious are you? Watch the reply, the ball left and he went on his leg directly. There was no control for sure, he went in that tackle like Melo, Sissoko combined, without using any brain.

Luckily it was a lower part part. If it was 5 inches higher Lisandro's leg would've been broken for sure.
dus no the ball was not too far from from lissandro's leg so i can understand what ribery was aiming to do but he just mis-timed his tackle but def not intentional.

How the hell can Ribery do that? He could have broken Lisandros leg big time. That was so stupid.

I feel sorry for Rossetti though, people in the arena probably haven't seen the situation yet and they're probably thinking he's helping Italy.

ok after watching it for a third time its def a straight red it was a risky tackle on ribery's side true he might not have meant it due to it being mis-timed but yeah a straight red.

Of course it was unintentional but it was clear red IMO. He could easily break his leg, and I'm sure if he did noone would say it wasn't red.

Terrible tackle by Ribéry, 100% red card that. I don't see how that's even up for debate.

Puel will probably allow Lyon further forward in the second half. They're down to 10 and they have Pranjic playing in midfield instead of van Bommel, which makes quite the difference.

Lyon should try to take advantage of this game, before they regret it next week.

This will probably end 0-0 now, unless Lyon show a lot more ambition.

Lyon should get Bastos on, push the whole team ten yards further up the pitch and get Pjanic much closer to Lisandro.

Oh, and it was a clear red.

It wasn't intentional, but it was a very poor and dangerous challenge.

Yeah "just". He almost broke his leg.

Even Beckenbauer agreed on the red card. It was crystal clear.
Did you even read my post? I said yes clear red . But his intention was to kick the ball away but he missed it. He could have just lifted his leg the second he realized he missed it but he didn't and just stayed there which makes it a clear red. He didn't jumped in there to brake his leg that's what I'm saying.
