Aint being funny but Italian football is poor compared to the rest and even if 4th is taken away then they deserve it. people here are so narrow minded still believe that serie a is at a strong level as before WRONG!! Roma struggled with a mediocre Fulham team and so will us tomorrow. Thats just how it goes. what goes around comes around.
Compared to the rest of what? I think most people can clearly see that Italian football is not at it's peak right now, for various reasons, mostly because it cannot compete financially against the English sides plus Barcelona and Real Madrid. They don't expect to see laughable selection and tactical calls in the premiere European competition that pretty much guarentees a loss.

If 4th is taken away I have to contest the issue of deserving or not, because German teams take the UEFA Cup/Europa League a lot more seriously in recent years and that has boosted their co-efficient. Does that mean they deserve the extra spot in the Champions League because of it? Not in my opinion. When was the last time a German team did anything in the Champions League? I don't think they deserve to have the 4th spot at all, but it's not about deserving it, it just is. But hey, perhaps Juve can take advantage of this flawed system this season.

It's also pointless comparing leagues by virtue of single knockout matches, it's clear to see that right now the top sides in England at least are better than the Italian ones. But football goes in cycles, Serie A needs to market itself better because it's not a coincidence that English clubs keep coming to Serie A for coaches and ideologies. Italian clubs need to make themselves more attractive again and it comes down to money, that's football.

On that note, it was funny to see Real Madrid crash and burn, again.

We all know what's the real reason why is serie A where it is. If they had Juve playing in CL instead of Chievo in 2007 and Lazio in 2008, this wouldn't have happened. If they had Fiorentina playing UEFA Cup instead of Livorno, this wouldn't have happened.
It's Calciopoli who destroyed Italian football. I refuse to support the clubs whose fans call us JuBe and didn't stop celebrating when we were relegated.

You all feel free to support them as much as you want.
I might be wrong but I thought you believed that Caliciopoli was quite justified and we were fairly treated there.

I believe that Juve and all the other big teams were directly influencing the referees. If they were 100% fair they should have been super stupid and relegated all the big teams. If they were smart they should have left all the big teams in serie A and simply punish some individuals. They didn't do that and they hurt Italian football.

    Until-

    A) The Italian Football Federation does something about not allowing contracts to be offered to anyone under 18, to prevent the constant poaching from the youth academies, and

    B) These teams finally man up and build their own stadiums, with their own money, so that they can build a revenue stream sufficient to retain and acquire talent year in and year out,

Get used to this. Once Italy loses that 4th spot to Germany, good luck getting it back. Or do people think that all of those new stadia that were built for the world cup are suddenly going to get old overnight, and their revenue sources are going to dry up?

When the future of Italian football basically rests on the shoulders of a Ghanian immigrant, it just goes to show just how dismal the youth academies are in Italy, with the exception of, ironically, Inter.

I don't know what is more troubling, the results of the Italian teams in Euorpe, or the blind eye being cast by the football federation.

But hey. Some people are resigned to be cool with the fact that Serie A is going to lose that precious 4th CL spot, because they think that it will be a wake up call.

Hey, it just might be, but it could take decades to get that 4th spot back, and by that point, Serie A will be on par with Ligue 1, if we are lucky.

Yoy see that in every league. Farsiopoli was an invention. Look at a lot of the calls from ref's the last five years in both the major leagues and the CL.

Not only that, but take pride in it, too.

I agree with your post for the most part, but Italy does have some talent. The problem is the managers are too conservative to start using them at early ages, which is another reason the likes of Petrucci go elsewhere.

It's been 2 years how I keep talking about the danger of losing the 3rd spot. I kept explaining the rules, I kept showing the standings, starting threads.
It's been years how I talk about the huge taxes and how they're hurting the teams and putting them in a weaker starting position when negotiating the wages of the players.

Now when the bad scenario is happening all start panicking and arguing with me of all people how I'm not aware of the consequences :disagree:

But i'm a no-one, we are no factor.

Why didn't anyone listen to Galliani all these years.
The bald head is talking non-stop for years about the stadiums problem, about the taxes problem. He's talking and no-one's doing anything to help Italian football.
They will only pop up to cry over the spoiled milk.

Just like in real life, I don't pity those who never take care of business on time. I hate laziness, I hate when people don't work seriously. That is why I refuse to join the Italians when they cry.
They're lazy incapable idiots. It's their and theirs only fault.

I know that it's your wet dream, and the wet dream of many others here, but they won't. Soon Barca will choke too and some 400 m eur (combined transfers of Barca and Real last summer) will go down the drain.
Where do you think Barca will reach in the CL??

I personally think they should pay extra attention to the CL, the league is pretty much Real's to lose for now, they have the easier run of games and better squad depth, really barring any major cock-up from Real, Barca won't win the league.

Which is something i think they know quite well, so they are probably going to pay extra attention to the CL.

Would love to see them play United in the quarters, would make for an interesting game.

I usually would be full of glee with Real failing big time, and in Perez case I would laugh at his face for hours if I was in the same room as him, but for someone who usually dislikes Real quite a lot, not the same for me this season. I really enjoyed watching them this season, latter part, really looked like a team who play fun footie so I feel for a few of the players and Pellegrino (there are some dicks I would also laugh at, Ramos, Marcelo, Guti).

Except Kaka, he is so fucking useless its unbelieveable. He is the true failure of this Real, Ronaldo and Higuin been carrying his ass for all season.
I agree, i hate Real Madrid and while i did enjoy them getting eliminated, i can't help but think they were really entertaining this season and would have made the CL much more interesting. We are going to miss out on possible exciting matchups like Real - United, Real - Arsenal or even Real - Bayern.

    Like whom?

What young talent is there, talent that can be looked at on a world scale?

    Balotelli, and...........................who else??

A lot of people say that there are far too many conservative managers out there who are afraid to play young talent in Italy, but where is that young talent to begin with? Are they afraid to play them because they are young, or because they are simply not that good??

And Italy just loves to eat its young, absolutely loves it. They follow Balotelli every waking moment of the day, to see what he will do next, instead of allowing young players to grow up.

I've been saying it since I've been on this forum. Serie A needed to get with the times, and they've needed to get with the times for the last 10 years
