Surprisingly entertaining game last night. Not at all what I had expected.

Milan was the better team if you ask me, but what good is that if you don't put the ball in the back of the net? Could / should have been 2 or 3 to nothing at halftime, instead it was 1-1.
What happened in the 2nd half was to be expected I guess. No surprise that Manu is a physically better team.

Best players for me were Van der Sar, T Silva & Ronaldinho. Special mention to Rooney as well, he was playing a very difficult & unrewarding role last night, but still decided the game.
Not too sure what to make of Huntelaar. Am I the only one who thinks he's just not "in sync" with his teammates?

Reports say that Boumsong was the best player against Madrid, when players leave they always seem to come good
Don't be fooled by his performance yesterday, his good performances this season have been as scarce as jews in a neo nazi party. Actually Puel contemplated playing Toulalan as a CB and relegating Boumsong to the bench, but decided against playing Toulalan out of position in the end.

In hindsight it was a really good decision i must admit.

Or else that Barca was just too good for them, but you'd rather not admit that. I guess that's just too bad.

Fletcher wouldn't have stopped Barca by his lonesome. As usual, you overrate Manure players.

Manchowder is for morons.
You're right in saying Fletcher couldn't have done it alone, but he would have went some way in making the game harder for the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. Both players had monster games that night, so i doubt Fletcher would have had that much of an effect on the final outcome of the game, but he sure would have made it a lot harder for Barca's midfield. They completely played United off the park that night, and one of several reasons for that was that United's midfield trio was too static that night, Fletcher would have added that much needed mobility and bite to their midfield.

Fletcher is underrated rather than overrated actually, as few people appreciate his importance to United's midfield in the big games. IMO he is one of their most important players when they play against big teams. Evidence of that are his performances against Arsenal in the past two seasons, and also the Chelsea game previously this season where he outperformed the likes of Lampard and Deco and barely let them breathe.

:agree: i was watching that game and wondering exactly the same thing. I swear he looked better than all of our defenders put together in that game. And its not just a one thing game, i've watched like 4-5 games this season for Lyon and every time he did impress me.

Tiago is playing well with atletico from what i've seen so far, almiron is flying with bari, molinaro is having a pretty decent games right now in germany and now boumsong.

It's really weird...
they all have a proper coaches now that know what there doing and the right back room staff not the amateurs we have

C'mon Fred, you know it's the typical Juvenutz drama. "Oh, we should have never sold Zanetti!," and "Wow, let's get back Marchionni and Pallamandingo!"
True that. :D

So has he normally played like his former juve self this season?

I don't watch Ligue 1 so I have only seen him in the CL this season and he has appeared to be a much improved player from the one we had.
Well he has been really poor this season. For some strange reason, Lyon started this season with two natural CB's, Cris and Boumsong. Boumsong has been really inconsistent and has made too many mistakes to the point that Claude Puel has preferred Toulalan and sometimes Bodmer, two players who have never been CB's in their lives, over Boumsong. Reports before yesterdays game said that Toulalan was going to play CB because of Boumsongs less than impressive performances this season, but in the end Puel opted not to play Toulalan out of position.

In the Ligue where the level of football is substantially lower than the Serie A he has been able to hold his own most of the time, but he has been exposed more times than once against the decent teams in Ligue. So no, i wouldn't say he has improved at all.

Obviously he's crap by Juve standards, but he's not THAT bad when compared to many other defenders. One game doesn't change the fact that he's the definition of "fail". Tiago got a 7.5 (i believe) against Barcelona. It happens...
