Indeed Vargas is having a splendid season. One of the few success stories of fullbacks converting into wingers and succeeding.

Moving on to the second round, i'm glad this season's second placed teams aren't as strong as they have been in previous seasons. I think we can beat CSKA, Porto and Stuttgart.

Ac Milan will be a tough prospect, you can never predict if they'll play a Zurich-like game, or a Madrid-like game. Either way, i think we are a better team, i believe we can beat them.

Lyon is a tough team, but their defense is poor and we can exploit that. Their midfield isn't overly physical, so they would be the kind of team that suits us. Hard to predict a winner in this one, but i have faith in my team to beat Lyon.

Bayern Munich will have Ribery back fit for our game, so i would hate to play them in the second round. They are also the type of team that play on the wings and get too many crosses into the box, our defenders wouldn't be comfortable playing against them. There is a big possibility that Bayern will beat us, i'd prefer if we avoided them.

Inter Milan are poor in Europe and they play a slow game that would fit us. But their midfield is strong defensively and would probably run over our lightweight midfield. Don't know what to make out of this game, but i'd much rather we avoid Inter, as i am not too sure we can beat them.

Heres the teams in order of preference for me.

Stuttgart
CSKA Moscow
Porto
Lyon
AC Milan
Inter
Bayern

Standard's goalkeeper scored a great goal in 95th minute and with that goal he sent his team in Europa League. They'd have been 4th if it ended 0:1

I aint too sure about Inter. I think Lyon is scarier for you. Inter will sit back in away games, they cant dominate the game enough. Lyon is a side with more alternatives. Inter will go to London with a bus parked in fron of goal. Sure they have Eto and all. But they are slow.

Id say Milan are the clear dark hourse now. The Real win was somewhat fluke. They scraped through. They have some players who could make the difference in big games. It really is the question of what Milan shows up.

Injuries aside, you'll beat them and you'll do it in the same fashion as you did it in 07/08 when you outplayed them.

This season, at least performance wise, Milan were worse than they were in their last 5-6 CL group stages. Couldn't beat Zurich, were outplayed twice by Marseille but had an incredible luck and they were lucky again when they faced Real without Ronaldo. That 2nd half in Madrid against a Ronaldo-less (and still not gelled) Real Madrid was the only good performance for them in Europe this season. Everything else was average or below average.
Had the schedule been different and Milan got Real in the 1st and 5th or 2nd and 6th round, Milan would have most probably joined Juve in Europa League.
They play slow football too, just like Juve and Inter and that suits your team perfectly well.

You know your team much better than I do, but in your place i'd rather get Milan than Porto or Lyon.

Now i guess what left is to root Viola to get far in CL, Juve crash out from uefa cup early, then we can concentrate on getting that 3-4 CL spot for the rest of the season and Viola will loose games here and there in the league.

What nonsense. I said Diego has the talent to eventually be better than Nedved, but didn't claim it was a 100% certainty he would be.

And now you're already writing the player off?

    Typical Juve fan behavior.
No. My point being that you were fully prepared to anoint him as Nedved's superior successor after a few matches. My point is the same now as it was then: you have to give these things time.

Your suggestions here to not be too quick to judge isn't something you exactly follow 100% yourself, is my point.
