All due respect to many here, but I have a feeling that people hardly ever watched Maldini until the late 1990's/ early 2000's and they go on by the stories they heard about his greatness.

I have seen Maldini play since 1990, and he is still in his prime the best left back in the world, while Zanetti was never considered the best at a specific position.
The best CB ever is Baresi for sure. I also agree with the member that said Nesta is more talented than Maldini, but too bad he was injured alot and didn't maximize his potential. Having the talent is something, and having it and playing for a long period of time on a consistant level is something else, and that's why Maldini is better than Nesta

Ive seen plenty of games with Baresi (from mid 80s til when he retired) although obviously not much of Der Kaiser - even though from most accounts from IMPARTIAL (look up that word, it really applies to you and many members of this forum sometimes) football experts, journalists etc hes one of the best ever.
