Sampdoria striker Francesco Flachi is facing a lengthy ban after testing positive for cocaine.

Flachi failed a routine drugs test after the Serie A match against Internazionale on 28th January, which Sampdoria lost 2-0.

He must now wait to learn his fate as the Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping lab carries out tests on his B sample.

Flachi, who was banned for two months earlier this season after being caught up in a betting scandal, could face a year out of the game if he is found guilty of a doping offence.

He is expected to be suspended in the meantime as a precautionary measure.

Sounds like a solid citizen, first illegal gambling then illegal drugs. 6 month minimum, but folk who repeatedly break the rules should just get chucked out of the game entirely.

Flachi has always struck me as some sort of heroin addict the way he runs around the pitch with blood vessels popping every time the ball falls in his eye sight. I suppose I just picked the wrong method of pleasure for the man.
