I love it when peeps get worked up over a kiss and want heads to roll in the name of male savior feminism.

It gives everyone an easy out instead of prioritizing affordable child care or greater representation on corporate boards.

It was little awkward creep sitaution that escalated too quickly. You gotta admit tho, the official response to this is massive own goal by Spanish FA (the idiotic gigachad should immediately apologised) , made it worse by doubling down an claiming it was consensual according to footage (lol wtf), and saying players obligated to play when called up. When the boycott of players came up.

That kind of response signals the female team aren't triggered by this singular incident alone, poor attitude by the FA.

EDIT: Now the dumbass president and the FA are threatening legal action, to sue a player who complains about being kissed and picked up like a child. Jesus talk about unbelievable idiocy. Its impossible for them to be professional both in basic congratulatory greeting and the aftermath of dealing with your own players.

The dude should have just apologised and said he got carried away by the moment.

Incredibly stupid response.

But it does tell you a lot about the Spanish FA.

Correct and measured as always, @Osman. There’s a Trump-like split on this one. To some, Rubiales committed a war crime … even if theoretically there isn’t anything to criminally prosecute him for under Spanish law. Because if Hermoso felt an assault, there are existing laws for this.

Rubiales and the FA are throwing red meat to the lionesses with their clownlike idiocy though. And yes, this incident is clearly one piled upon many for which there are many grievances. And maybe that’s it - the players have finally decided this is the hill they want to die on for all of that.

As with any negotiation for power, neither side is going to be happy with the result.

It does, it's insane defence "I'm no creep, video shows you consented to being kissed on the lips and being lifted up, me and my FA will sue you". Talk about ruining the world cup final moment for your own player and team.

Read that prior to wc many Spanish players refused call up to the team because issues they had with FA of how unprofessional they were treated. Talk about those who didn't participate being proven right afterwards in this weird ass situation.

Now 81 players officially boycotting, good luck trying to stick with this dumbass president after that (Internationally spread PR mess). And this being the singular news now instead of the WC triumph.

The other irony is that if England undeservedly won the final, the discussion will be about how women have achieved equality in sport and even beat a failed legacy of the English men’s team. How they can be models for young girls. Kumbayah.

Spain is not only the rightful winner, but perhaps the more appropriate conversation about the state of the game.

Pretty much, agreed in general. And it's really weird, why does Spanish football only have moronic, incompetent, chauvinistic or bigoted presidents?

Rubiales in this instance for whole Spanish FA, his ego makes him handle it the worst way possible (besides being critisized prior).

And Tebas who is La liga president, who for me is the worst most unfit president in all top leagues. He is not only completely corrupt clown (rapsheet so long in this), but he is outright bigoted too, handled the Vinny jr racism issue so bad, litterally victim blamed for facing widespread racism all season (killing off the little international appeal la liga has had in past waning post CR7-Messi years). Then ofcourse he is shown to be member of right wing extremist political party, who he used league funds to sponsor that party's election needs.

Apparently its a place where egoistic clowns fail upwards in their footie organisations.
