@Osman. There’s a Trump-like split on this one. To some, Rubiales committed a war crime … even if theoretically there isn’t anything to criminally prosecute him for under Spanish law. Because if Hermoso felt an assault, there are existing laws for this.
Rubiales and the FA are throwing red meat to the lionesses with their clownlike idiocy though. And yes, this incident is clearly one piled upon many for which there are many grievances. And maybe that’s it - the players have finally decided this is the hill they want to die in for all of that.
As with any negotiation for power, neither side is going to be happy with the result.
