Time wasting and rolling on the floor are one of Italy's specialties too.
But I've been watching Egypt for ages, and they do the same thing everytime they score. It's a big difference between rolling on the floor when you get tackled and going down every minute and acting injured. You can't honestly say Egypts football isn't based on this tactic?

camoranesi should have featured tonight, at least chiellini had the sense to launch the ball up to the 2 big strikers Iaquinta and Toni. Pirlo, grosso, zambrotta etc were happy to keep the ball in the 90th min.

Weren't there a lot of people saying the same thing last time around?
You mean at the EURO?
But as shitty as they were, they almost made it to the semis. Spain's team was classes better but still it went to roulette in the end and Italy were eliminated on penalties.

You know that penalties are 50-50 and if Italy went to the semis (where they'd have met Russia) anything would have happened till the end.

I don't know if the trick will work though, but I really believe that this is what he's doing.

It happens, but not at the rate you state. We're playing ITALY the world champions we must do this and we're without our 3 strikers. If you mean before this match, Egypt use this tactic, but it depends on the match. Our players do not fall and cry after every tackle. I think you mixed up between Egypt and Tunisia.

Why is all this stuff being said now?

Italy were no worse than they were against the USA. The only difference is that Egypt kept 11 men on the pitch and Italy didn't take their chances.

Anyway, as I said before the tournament, I still believe the Confederations Cup to be a bunch of glorified friendlies and, more often than not, the more motivated team wins friendlies.

Problem is that talent is being destroyed.

Anyone remember the mighty 22 year old Gilardino who was predicted to be the next veiri ? Along come Milan and destroy all that was good in him, and prefer to start the 32 ronaldo over him. Gilardnio had the potnetial to be one of the best strikers
Oh please. Gilardino was given more than enough chances in Milan. For almost 2 years he was a sure starter. Only when Ronaldo came and during his third season he didn't start all the time (but still played a lot).

Just face it, there is no top quality, and even if there are 1 or 2 such talents, it's far from enough.

I meant the World Cup in 2006. It was the jeers from Northern Europe and Spain claiming Italy wouldn't achieve anything due to Calciopoli.

Then there were millions of people with just as many eggs splattered on their faces.

I thought the same thing after the game against the USA as well, but I wanted to piss off Andy.

I don't think it does either, we don't have the right players.

With the players now, I have no idea. If Cassano was called up, then 4-3-2-1.
I'd probably try something like this at the WC 2010,depending on how the players evolve, obviously.

Buffon
Motta Bocchetti Chiellini Santon
Marchisio Cigarini De Rossi
G.Rossi Cassano
Iaquinta/Pazzini

Even if we probably wouldn't win a flowerpot with that squad 2010,I'd risk it to be strong at the following tornaments. It won't happen though,Lippi should have introduced the likes of Marchisio,Motta,Bocchetti etc a long time ago.Too late, now we're stuck with the likes of Pepe etc.
Sorry but that really had me laughing :D Bumpin'!
Del Piero wouldn't help this team either, IMO.

And somebody mentioned Brighi. :lol2: Yeah he's a real upgrade.
Agreed.

This Italy team isn't as bad as folk make out.

A little tinkering and they will be a very tough team to beat.

I agree with what you have been saying that there is a lack of top class emerging Italian talent, though.
 for the first part... the second part really still hangs in the balance. There are some players who could develop quite nicely with continuity, but they won't be ready for the next WC.

Off the top of my head, I think that a year from now, with the development and inclusion of Cassano, D'Agostino, Marchisio, Santon, Criscito, Rossi, and maybe even a finally healthy Aquilani (who has never really taken that next step - maybe he won't, who knows), could add quite a bit to this squad... ADP could even potentially help.

Oh no my friend, I did not mix Tunisia and Egypt, I know my African football. Actually Tunisian and Egyptian football are very similiar, only the difference is that Egypt actually are successful in using this tactic :D
