How can you say that when we were linked with so many strikers, and many of them playing the SS role? I think Marotta's only challenge for this mercato was to raise the quality in our attack.
Doesn't that in essence further highlight his strategy? Being linked to different types of strikers, showed not only a lack of focus on what characteristics we wanted and needed, but also, in all likelihood, buying a name player based on price, irrespective of characteristics. But I agree, his primary challenge was to raise the quality in attack. And I still think he will deliver, coz theres a long way to go still, but if he doesn't, then I would say he failed.

what do you know about our budget and his talks with conte? It seems that your clan gives credit to Conte whenevr something good happens and shovel shit on Marotta whenever things don't go right.
I'd say the budget is a pretty hefty one if he spent close to 45 mil before buying what we need most. There is no excuse this season. Absolutely none. Nobody has to be sold to make money to accommodate that top player/Vidal level signing whatever. That money was allocated at the start of the season, with a fair view of how the mercato had worked for or against us in seasons past.

those reports of him going to england im sure they old like the one on him renewing his contract...wouldve made sense way back then...not now...im sure the agents wouldnt mind these ancient reports floating about as it would be beneficial to them/their client during negotiations..

How come he couldn't do it in his first season here, if you want to credit the undefeated team to Marrotta?
Read my earlier post to see that I think he was part of a larger picture in terms of the undefeated season, and deserves credit for playing a positive role in that.

As for the first season, I think it's difficult to say much without being called a Marotta fanboy or whatever. I think valid excuses would include too much baggage from the Secco era (wages, crappy players and loads of payments), lack of money (Elkann hooked the club up at the beginning of last season), and a poor coaching decision in terms of Delneri. That poor coaching decision can be his fault actually, as they seem to be a team arriving from Sampdoria. And yeah, there were some shitty players he brought in, such as Traoré, and he (disgustingly) let go of Trezeguet. In that season, he did purchase Pepe, Bonucci, Storari, Barzagli and Matri who were all good transfers and important players under Conte and the undefeated season.

Not at all asking for his resignation. I think he's done a good job thus far this mercato, but it could all be undone easily if he doesn't deliver what matters most. In which case, I would deem him to be a nearly man.
I was going to reply but then I saw the post below. I think everyone is a little on edge because it's approaching deadline day and the biggest issue has not been addressed, right now I think he's earned time at Juventus.
Yep, I'm pretty sure a striker is arriving myself. In the off chance he doesn't arrive, I'd say we failed.

You know you're saying we had a lack of funds and baggage from the secco era in his first season. But do you remember how that season played out? We made several new signings and tried overhauling the entire team. Despite the apparent lack of funds, Marrotta signed close to 11 new players if I'm not mistaken. Even that summer, Quag came as the last day signing after DiNatale and Borriello rejected us. Same happened with Matri, in the winter mercato, when he came at the death after we lost other targets one of which included Pazzini, thankfully.

Are you aware that despite buying Pepe and Bonnucci who you mention playing a big part in our run last year, Beppe wanted to offload them both to Zenit, but it was Conte who blocked their departures? And thankfully, despite Marrotta failing to deliver a new CB who was sorely needed before the mercato closed, it worked out ok for us. Remember the Alves and Bocchetti last day talks?

Point remains, that this seaosn of the three was going to be Beppe's biggest challenge in helping us return among the elite. I hope for all of us that he delivers because I don't want to go from undefeated Serie a champs to embarrassed Champions League victim. Which is exactly what'll happen in the absence of a big game forward.

Like their president wanting €36m?
Yes, lets find an excuse for every target then? Shall we? If we don't want to pay, or have the ability to negotiate we should just blood our own youngsters. Welcome to the mercato.

And besides, I wasn't the one who mentioned Llorente in the first place. Marrotta did. Two years and running, talking about players like Aguero, Pastore, Dzeko, Cavani, Higuain etc. but no, lets all moan about the state this league is in and how we have no money. And absolve him if he fails to deliver Llorente by saying they wanted 36m.

You're right. We are on edge. But I think thats bound to happen seeing our track record. Despite that though, I'm pretty sure he's going to get the job done.

I made your clan up, should've written the people who in general give conte more credit than marotta for our season :D

And yes, I feel that Borriello + Pazzini is better than Matri + Quags, not by a long stretch but better nonetheless.
