Whose asking anybody to pay 36m? What are you expecting Urrutia to say? "Here you go Marrotta, take him on your terms, I've also packed some whole wheat bread and goat cheese for your journey back to Torino"
I didn't say you did suggest paying €36m. It could be €20m, €22m, €27m...

Seriously man, get a grip.
You're telling me that, you? The guy who has been acting like a 14 year old Twilight post-break up fangirl in the past week?

Marrotta responding to anything positively, in the press anyway is what attracts the attention of other clubs, and drives up prices. He needs to talk less to begin with. There is absolutely no argument or so called 'favourable' conditions when attracting top talent. You have to have the money to contend when it comes to a certain level of player. There is no ifs and buts. We create the conditions. The team and system are already in place, but the game changing player is going to come at a price and there is no escaping that. You will not find a Vidal every season. Even Moggi knew that. And he broke the bank, for players who not only went onto become the core of one of the strongest teams in Europe, but also performed at phenomenal levels while attracting other players to the team. The marquee player or whatever we describe as a top player cost a lot for a reason.
Drives up prices? Puts the pressure on other deals...He needs to talk less, like Moggi I guess? ;) We don't create the conditions, the selling club does. It all comes down to them, how big they are, how prestigious they are, whether they need the money, whether they need to sell the player because he wants out. See the difference between Ibra, who was totally fucked off at Milan, and Vidal, when PSG bid for him.

I don't really know why the Moggi comparison is coming up, the market conditions Moggi operated in were very different. The league was stronger and had more prestige, clubs were far wealthier, Juventus were established as regular champions and annually competitive in the Champions League. It's not even a contest.

I'm not even replying to the last point, because it is covered in the discussion already.

Because of Marotta clubs like City and Chelsea wants Llorente...
Its not clubs like City or Chelsea. Its anybody. When you're after a certain player and you tend to talk about it, it draws the attention of other clubs and the selling clubs try looking to create an auction. Its what Bilbao will try and do as well with Llorente. You can't blame them, that free press will have natural consequences. Theres a reason Moggi never talked about his targets.

On a general note, I agree, but this argument is moot in this case, though. Because the president of Atl. Bilbao called a press conference and announced to the entire international footballing community that Llorente wouldn't renew and that he will be sold. So it doesn't really matter if Marotta filled up his lungs with air and shouted Llorente's name so loud that the Gods could hear it; Bilbao opened the auction themselves, and any interested party now has a good opportunity to come forward with a bid.

When Marotta did speak about Llorente, it was like a day or two before Bilbao's press conference, which I'm sure he knew was gonna take place.

That's funny girlfriend, because I've continued to believe a striker will arrive the whole time. The only time anybody gets this reaction from you is when something is said about Marrotta. It's almost like you're in a relationship with him.

.

Everybody needs the money. Everybody has a price and no player in the current scenario is irreplaceable. Barca still paid close to 30m for Alexis Sanchez despite the so called 'favourable conditions' but how much did that change? The player wanted to go there. Udine is a smaller club than Barca. La Liga is a better league, but it didn't change anything.

The point about Moggi, not to compare the two, but like you said even when conditions were apparently favourable for us, only further complements the fact that he spent big money even then to seal marquee quality. At a time when the league was stronger, we were stronger etc.

And I'm not quite sure Marrotta has had a tougher time, given the amount of help and capital he has been given to play with. He's got a great launchpad with a new stadium, Exor's backing. I don't want this to digress into Marrotta vs Moggi, it's not that.

Its to highlight that we are in a different marketplace not just in Italy but all Europe. The game has changed. And we need to learn to adapt. You cannot be living of excuses like we are a shit league, we have no money, we don't do auctions, we buy on our terms etc. More than a bargain, we need to be looking at long term value. And for that, you need a game changer on and off the field.

Juve target Llorente England bound

http://www.football-italia.net/23662/juve-target-llorente-england-bound

Juventus’ hopes of landing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente seem dead after the players’ agent spoke to the English press.

The Bianconeri, desperate for a lead striker ahead of dual campaigns in Serie A and the Champions League, have been heavily linked with the forward dubbed 'The Lion King' in recent weeks.

However Llorente's representative Arino Bajo has now made it clear that his client's likeliest destination is the Premier League.

"Tomorrow Llorente will speak about his destination,” Bajo informed The Telegraph.

“It is very, very possible he will decide to go to the Premier League. I don’t know the club at the moment but there are two interested. One is in London, and one is in Manchester.”

Bajo refused to specify the identity of those suitors but Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are the favourites to sign the Spain international.

Yea sure, I was talking generally and cited Bilbaos example because of their current situation. But again, in my humble opinion I don't think Llorente will come here.

What else would you want me or anybody to think? The only think original here is your Marrotta lovin'.
No but seriously, what are you holding against me? We've only discussed the possibility of a Licht sale and I've at no point said a striker won't come.

Or neither.

A striker will come, I just don't think it is going to be either one of these two. in regards to Dzeko, there are too many moving parts to take place in order for it to happen. In regards to Llorente, Juve have set their price, which in all honesty is a very fair one for a striker who wants out on the last year of his contract. Comparisons to the RVP scenario cannot be made due to Van Persie being a better known name than Llorente.

I have this feeling that the striker will be coming from either the Bundesliga or Russia. Just a hunch, nothing more than that.
