Oh, but I get the joke. And in fact, it doesn't bother me at all. I'll be the first one to criticize & laugh at ourselves (unlike many others) for the dumb crap that keeps on happening.

It's just that the way this situation turned out (it not being a Belgian criminal), means that the joke doesn't make any sense.
Mate, it doesn't have to make sense. Even if he was Belgian, would it have made more sense then? I mean what would it have meant? That crimes happen in Belgium just like they happen everywhere else? So what?

Might be yes, but for what you guys know, the judge or the clerck were related to one of the Belgians here, really, I wonder what the reactions here would have been then after the first posts.

Sometimes things that happen aren't ok to make fun about, especially since the fact he wasn't even Belgian wasn't known.
You're right, it is bad taste.

But things far worse than this were made fun of on these forums. When its closer to home it hurts, doesn't it?

True.

Ideally, matters where death is involved should never be laughing material.

But it still happened in Belgium :D

Actually its much funnier now because the original attempt at the joke backfired :p
That much is true :D

That pic is completely dead on for a certain someone :D

Fair enough. I figured the joke was about making fun of the Belgians as much as the country itself. Hence me thinking it missed the point here.

Its neither, its making fun of the statement that this would never happen in Belgium :D

As if that doesn't happen in other countries

No, in the US stuff like this happen:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...ony-Hill-shot-dead-body-dragged-10-miles.html

Much better, I agree.
"Black man shot dead..", "White man has been arrested..."

Why can't they simply say "Anthony Hill shot dead" and " Gregory Collins has been arrested"?
As Seven would say, and he'd be right, they're making us read this as if it was an act of a racist, while I see no proof of something like that.

That is the whole point actually. :D

Its kind of an inside joke, Seven once made a comment about something that happened in the US and said that that would never happen in Belgium iirc, ever since, anything that ever happens in Belgium gets its own thread, and rest assured that the first few posts would be mocking Belgium with the cliche "this would never happen in Belgium"
Except that what I said has never actually happened in Belgium ;).

It doesn't matter to me were it happened, speaking for me personally, I wouldn't make fun of stuff like this, not to joke with another member here, no matter what country it happened in.
IMO, it just isn't something to make fun about.

It's South Carolina and fact a black guy was shot and dragged through the streets, really tells me it was racism. Not to mention the pic of the guy, he's probably got KKK tattoed across his chest.

No proof.

Although, I bet he does have those tattoos :D

Its fair to assume that it was racially motivated though. I mean, dragging his body 10 miles after he was dead? Sounds like a hate crime to me.
