Yeah, I doubt many people here watched Galatasaray play much last season. But based on the Melo we know, it's very hard to believe that he could've been one of the best mids in Europe.
Look at it from this window;

In WC 2010, Melo was Brazil's best player along with Fabiano. That red card he got against Holland put an end to his national team career. Other than that he played some brilliant football in that tournament. Melo's a great player, but he's not a normal person. So he needs those corcumstances to be all right.

If his performances in the WC 2010 is his high standard, then no, he is nowhere close to Vidal :D

He was way better last season. But that doesn't change the fact that he played some great football in WC 2010. Considering how some other players did in the same squad.

Like I said earlier, you're clueless on what you're talking about. The difference between the Melo of last season and the Melo of this season is his physical condition. From May to Aug. he did nothing but eat, drink and maybe some samba dance the whole summer because of long negotiations between the two clubs.

Pirlo was a pure loser untill he joined AC Milan and his performance sucked untill 2004 or 2005. I can give you many examples like this. These are players not robots.

I'll prove how pathetic your football knowledge is. Melo just needs to get in shape again and Terim will make that happen during the mid-season training. Let's just hope that it's Gala vs Juve next. I will make you eat your words.

so now you're comparing melo to Pirlo?

the difference is Pirlo grew into a champion, melo's career has been declining since he left fiorentina, his shambolic showing at the last world cup for brazil, his shameful performances at Juve, so whoopty do he joined a 3rd rated league which to which he shined because he gets the attention he craves.

the fact is melo is not, ever was and never will be world class. Vidal on the other hand the stats speaks for itself, the highest tackling success rate in Europe last year, and still arguably the best destructive midfielder in Europe again this year. Melo is simply nothing but a clown, you only love him for his antics without realising he doesn't even have a footballing brain. so before you come here all guns blazing trying to feed us with your shit i suggest you take a good look around and come to terms with who you are talking to here, you will never win this argument, so long this is a Juventus forum and not a forum for delusional idiots like yourself.

oh and if we play galatasaray any time soon, God fucking help you because Vidal alone will steam roll your mickey mouse team, you better go on all 4s alla melo like a true bitch

hey hagi, did it ever occur to you that melo couldn't even find a team in a top league before he joined galatasaray, it shows that he is not even rated amongst the top clubs. Did it also occur to you that even galatasaray hesitated in trying to sign him, and begged to loan him again. Did it also occur to you that Vidal for the past couple of years has been wanted by Chelsea, Bayern, man utd and Real madrid?

not even arsenal wanted melo that says alot it itself.

melo had his peak, he is never going to reach the form he had at fiorentina ever again, Vidal is still peaking

This whole discussion is stupid. Melo was a liability to this team and really only had one really good season in Italy (with Viola) - but his season didnt come close to what Vidal achieved with us in 2011/2012. He's a decent midfielder who happens to be entertaining because of his crazy antics. The Turkish league is his level.

Come on man, it's like comparing Serie A and Serie B players, yeah, Melo did very well in Turkish league, but that doesn't mean we can honestly compare him to players from TOP5 leagues. Not because he's necceserily worse, but because they play on very different levels. For example Buffon may have been (probably was) the best goalkeeper in the world in 2006/07, but he hardly had a chance to prove it in a league were the biggest strikers were Belluci, Acquafreska and Papa Waigo.
Didn't Melo play very well for Viola for a season, at least? So your point that he was good only in turkish league is invalid. And you really can't compare Melo and Vidal since the team when Melo played in Juventus had Grygera, and Motta as fullbacks, Iauqinta, and Amauri strikers, clueless defenders excluding Chiellini, and partners like Poulsen and Tiago.

Melo is very good player, very good technique and very good in defending. Yeah he has discipline issues but that doens't make him a bad footballer.

Leverkusen is not a great team, and Melo almost joined arsenal the year he signed for us, Arsenal is very entertaining team who play beautiful football.
