It is not a massive improvement, come on. Saying these things leaves an impression that you guys hardly ever watched Vidal and Melo.
It's just like saying that Fabregas would be a massive improvement over Iniesta. He might turn out to be an improvement, but not a massive one. On the other hand, it might turn out in the end that Iniesta was the better fit. It's the same with Vidal and Melo.

Vidal would be a massive improvement if he replaces Pazienza or Sissoko of the last 2 seasons.
I am probably biased against Melo, I don't like him. But still I am certain Vidal is the better player.

we signed Melo for 20,5M+Marchionni who was valued at 4,5M
i expect~15M and NOTHING LESS.

we did the same last season, transfering Diego to Wolfsburg for 15,5 a loss of about 9M
i wonder how much we'll lose for the likes of Martinez Amauri Iaquinta etc
just for the record Tiago was signed for 13 and we released him today FOR 0$

Melo: 'I'm leaving Juve'

“I’ve received an offer from Europe that will vastly improve my salary,We’re finalising the details and over the next few days everything out to be completed.

“I was not cut from the Juventus squad. Quite simply, in agreement with the directors, we decided it was inconvenient that I should only play in Serie A, considering my salary and the contract that runs to 2014.”

Melo: 'I'm leaving Juve'

Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo confirmed: “I’ve received an offer from Europe that will vastly improve my salary. We’re finalising the details.”

There are reports this move could be to any number of clubs, as Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Galatasaray have all been linked by various sources.

“I’ve received an offer from Europe that will vastly improve my salary,” he told Brazilian media.

“We’re finalising the details and over the next few days everything out to be completed.

“I was not cut from the Juventus squad. Quite simply, in agreement with the directors, we decided it was inconvenient that I should only play in Serie A, considering my salary and the contract that runs to 2014.”

It’s well known Melo is not a part of new Coach Antonio Conte’s plans and failed to win over the Bianconeri supporters.

He had been linked with a return to Brazil, particularly San Paolo, and admits there was truth in those stories.

“I had got to the point of choosing the area I’d live in and I know they’d have treated me with a great deal of affection.

“However, I was very annoyed that people I didn’t even know started commenting on a supposed move to Palmeiras. Flamengo were never interested in me, while Santos and Gremio only ever enquired.”

I hate when people say that. You have to take into consideration that he played for us for a year. Ever heard of depreciation of assets? He signed a 5 year contract if I remember correctly. 24.5/5=Roughly 5 million a year. So his services were valued at around 5 million per year. So the value of his contract at the end of the campaign was 19.5 million (4 years left). Loss of around 4-5 million, not 9.
Also you need to take into consideration his performances for Wolfsburg. Didn't Marotta do the right thing selling him for 15.5 million now knowing how he did in Germany? I think so.

Also, Marotta spent last summer and a portion of this cleaning up Secco's mess. I think Secco players are almost all gone. Not saying I'm giving an excuse for his mediocrity but still its a factor

How come they take every chance to praise Marchisio and say what an amazing player he is while they end up kicking the superior player Melo out?

Shame, but the writing was on the wall months ago. He would have been a good partner for Pirlo, providing the steel next to Pirlo's finesse.

If Melo is overpaid at 2.6, then what should a certain ghostly CM that recently got bumped up to 2.5 (for no tangible reason) be considered I wonder?
My point exactly.
strange how people compare those two players who both have different qualities
When it comes down to money, or as it's supposed in Melo's case, qualities is hardly important. They're both CM's and both earn nearly the same in salary. I don't see why they should not be compared. It's not like I'm trying to compare Matri and Buffon here. Just comparing one CM to another.
