I can understand why management want to offload him
- he is in big salary (9,26m base + 1.85m bonus) = 11,11m gross
- he is in his final year of his contract > book value of 15m
- his output (goal contributions), especially after he injured, can easily be matched by someone with third or half of his salary. Someone like Nico Gonzales probably will cost us around 5-6m gross per year
Our plan A is to sell him to Roma for 20m, but he refused. If he accept that offer, we will probably keep Soule (in Juve or loan him out to increase his value even more) and get Sancho on loan with Weah as the backup. If this plan really happened we probably will give Soule contract extention with around 2,5m salary and loan him probably to club like Fiorentina to get European experience (reason #1) and that kind of salary, they still can afford it (reason #2). And we will sell him after this season to fund Sancho, or to keep him and not take Sancho option based on their performance this season
After Chiesa refused, then we sell Soule instead, why :
- high plusvalenza total of 22.4m
- he ask for higher salary, his salary increase from 560k per season gross > 3.7m base + 930k bonuses = 4.63m in total (first team salary)
- he want guarantees as first team player
- we need cashflow to keep pursuing our main target Koopmeiners
That is why, right now we dont go for straight when we bid for Nico Gonzalez, because most of the money still allocate to get Koopmeiners
I am content if we can get Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez and another winger that can play as striker
