It seems that this guy oozes vision.
Jorge
Locatelli
Kean

I mean, I do sense a trend there. I’m sure there are financial limits he has to work under that means sacrificing targets. You can thank Tici for that.

I guess my point is it’s still TBD how good or shit this guy is.

Nobody said the cleanup process would be pretty. Not trying to defend the management here but they clearly have changed the course, we make different type of signings now.

It will be painful for another two years at least, as long as we're forced to keep those overpaid mercenaries on the books (you know the names I have on my mind).

Just looking at the past three years there is a more obvious shift towards younger players, but we also increased the size of the squad. Now we have the jabronis as back up rather than U23 players, probably for experience.

2021-22
Tek, Perin, Pinsoglio, MDL, Rugani, Bonucci, Chiellini, AS, MDS, Pellegrini, Danilo, Cuadrado, Arthur, Locatelli, Bentancur, Rabiot, McD, Ramsey, Chiesa, Kulu, Berna, Dybala, Morata, Kean, KJ
Average age: 26.68 (25 players)

2020-21
Tek, Buffon, Pinsoglio, MDL, Demiral, Bonucci, Chiellini, AS, Frabotta, Danilo, Cuadrado, Arthur, Bentancur, Rabiot, McD, Ramsey, Chiesa, Kulu, Berna, Dybala, Morata, CR7
Average: 27.27 (22)

2019-20
Tek, Buffon, Pinsoglio, MDL, Demiral, Bonucci, Rugani, Chiellini, AS, Danilo, Cuads, Pjanic, Can, Bentancur, Ramsey, Rabiot, Matuidi, Khedira, DC, Berna, Dybala, CR7
Average: 29.3 (22)

Obviously losing Buffon and CR7 makes a big difference but it's far from the only one.

Let's be honest here and give credit where it's due. I thought it was impossible to make the squad worse than last year but our new director managed do that.
it's going to be a painful season. yeah allegri is good, but he is not sir alex ferguson good. he can't turn turds into a winning squad. maybe conte would have been better choice for these group of pussy players.

Aren't most clubs in the same boat when it comes to money due to covid? I don't see how this window was any more abnormal circumstancially for us compared to most clubs
You get around £3.50 to win Serie A. Ronaldo and Ramsey etc wages, COVID. All bad timing. We had Pogba money pre COVID was reported a virtually done deal. We changed direction. Looking after the pennies I guess.

Well done on pretending to work the numbers and try and sign Pjanic till last day for Allegri. Or was he advised by Nedved (do we know what he does yet?) or Arrivabene?

Unfortunately listened to Max on Donnarumma.

Well done on no panic buys and might be a fast learner.

You're right, they are in the same boat. So lets have a look at summer transfer totals for the top 25 leagues by expenditure. All data taken from here, all totals in millions of euros.

*Big 5 = Serie A, La Liga, EPL, Bundesliga, Ligue 1

This summer saw the least amount of money spent by far, aside from the Premier League - big surprise there. For Serie A specifically, this is the least spent since summer 11/12, coming off one of the lowest points for the league right before we won the Scudetto. This makes sense considering this is after a full season of no fans in the stadium, eliminating that revenue stream entirely. This, compounded with our obscene wage bill very obviously crippled us in the market. With Ronaldo's wages off the books, lets see what happens from here on out. Not only that, but we were clearly counting on a huge cash infusion of hundred of millions of euros to rebuild the squad, but that ended up just covering our losses due to the pandemic. I don't get it, you think management decided to not spend money just for the hell of it, and not because it was necessary? According to transfermarkt we have spent about €500,000 net on transfers so far this year, our lowest BY FAR for the last 5 years, though these also count winter mercati. So yes, these are very abnormal circumstances in which we were heavily affected.

 Data

Edit: Seems I might've misclicked some cells for the 2017/2018 totals for the big 5 leagues as I highly doubt the totals were exactly the same, but regardless.
