That's if we believe that Allegri had zero knowledge and was, like us, browsing Internet to read about transfer news -- which is highly unlikely.
It's true that he wanted us and it did influence us getting him. However, we should look at the bigger picture here. Our squad is huge as is and that's thanks to our previous incompetent management which bought garbage and gave hilariously high contracts for them. We also have a summer with Covid behind us which heavily influenced not just us but pretty much all leagues as really minor moves happened bar in oil clubs (shocking). Not just that, but many teams lost their good/key players.
We surely shouldn't rush with the wanks here but signing Locatelli on those crazy installments, for that fee and 3mln/season is a really good deal for us. It might be a pity he wasn't here for friendlies but it's not a huge deal since he already speaks the language and knows the league. Even players like Vidal and Pogba settled down very fast, let alone him.
If anything it's sad and horrible we're stuck with so many players we should've sold, but I can't blame him there. Not only clubs are buying less due to covid but also not many clubs are crazy enough to buy overpriced players on crazy contracts, nor those players would like to take huge pay cut at this point. He'll have to work with what he's been given, so far he's doing quite good. Just because he didn't buy another mid, defender or winger doesn't mean he's incompetent but it's us working on a tight budget thanks to previous fuck ups. This Locatelli deal reeks like old (good) Marotta deals he pulled imo.

Considering Max wants to use 2-3 starting CMs, a collection of Loca, Ramsey, Rabiot, Bentancur, Arthur, McKennie + Berna, who is rumored to be used as mezzala, is far too big. And there's the option to bring back Pjanic for free who's comfortably still a better player than most of them. Can we just ship Ramsey to EPL already and sell one of Rabiot/Bentancur?
Burning Arthur would be for the best. Fire cleanses the soul and allows for the renewal process to begin.
