CONI verdicts postponed Tuesday 24 October, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CONI Court of Arbitration is expected to hand out its verdicts early next week, according to the latest reports in Italy.

Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina presented their appeal to the highest grade of justice in Italian sports in the hope of seeing the punishments for their part in the Calciopoli scandal reduced or even cancelled, agreeing to keep the dispute within the realm of sporting justice.

The clubs involved were heard on October 11 and the fresh verdicts were expected to be revealed after 15 days, but it now seems that every decision will be postponed to next week, possibly late on Tuesday evening, after the Italian stock market closes.

The FIGC relegated Juventus to Serie B, stripping them of the 2005 and 2006 titles, and gave them a 17-point penalty, while Fiorentina, Lazio and Milan were given deductions of 19, 11 and eight points respectively.

Despite CONI having insisted that nothing has been decided in advance, speculation from various sources in the Italian media stated that all the clubs will see a reduction in their penalties.

In the meantime the President of the Federal Court Piero Sandulli declared that no club should have been awarded the 2005-06 Scudetto, after the Bianconeri were stripped of the title.

“We only worried about awarding the Scudetto, but I believe that the best decision would have been to leave it unassigned,” said Sandulli.

“From a personal point of view, I think it would have been fair not to award it, it could have

I dont want to repeat myself anymore.

This is how the system works and neither you or anybody in the world will bring our Scudettos back.

And the sooner you accept that fact, the better for you.

I :agree: and i know that, actually i knew that before the decision was made,
point is that its not fair, legal or logic and i was debating for the shake of it,
the wish to harm Juve was above any law...
we never had a chance, i said that from the beginning, they would modify the laws just to punish us more, in previus situations, teams that have done more, payed much less...

i have accepted the fact that we are powerless and hopeless many years before,
it was just like speaking to my self, unfortunately the time has come that every Juventini saw that, i m just sorry for the few that may think, that justice prevailed...

Appeal verdicts for Italian match-fixing clubs expected on Monday

ROME (AFP) - Four of the five Italian football clubs found guilty of match-fixing should find out next Monday whether their punishments will be reduced further.

The match-fixing appeal verdicts were initially scheduled for Friday, but the judges need more time to reach their decisions, the Gazzetta said.

The paper said another reason for the postponement was because Friday is too close to the weekend matches and the verdicts could have incited crowd trouble.

The sports authorities were said to be particularly concerned about the safety of fans at Saturday's Milan derby.

The Gazzetta said another factor for not making the verdicts known on Friday was because the Italian stock exchange closes that day and Juventus and Lazio are both listed companies.

According to Italian media reports, all the clubs are likely to see their sentences reduced by around 40 per cent.

Taking the titles away was nothing but cosmetic in nature. They cant have a serie b club as the champions of Italy, even though they were the rightful owners.

This whole thing is ridiculous.

They just took the time enough to snap your fingers to relegate Juve to serie B and now they have to take one million years to decide on a few lousy points off the penalty and it took 4 months for the court to realize that giving the scudetto to Inter is wrong??

I don't get it.

Moratti elected to Lega Calcio
Tuesday 24 October, 2006
The elections for the new Lega Calcio council have given roles to Inter’s Massimo Moratti and Atalanta President Ivan Ruggeri.

The 'union’ of Serie A clubs needed two new faces after Sampdoria’s Riccardo Garrone resigned in protest at the actions of new Lega President Antonio Matarrese, while Rosella Sensi of Roma was promoted to vice-President.

However, it was not an easy task, as it took 11 different voting rounds for Moratti to earn his place.

The Nerazzurri patron failed to capture the necessary 15 votes, but in the end the deadline was lowered to 13 and he was able to get in.

The other new arrival, Atalanta President Ruggeri, managed to pick up his required quota at the sixth attempt.

Other initial candidates who later pulled out of the running were Catania director Pietro Lomonaco, Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini, Torino owner Urbano Cairo and Udinese board member Campoccia.

“I took a step back to allow the votes to reach Moratti,” explained Cairo. “It was the right solution, because he has been in football for a long time and took over the place that had belonged to Giacinto Facchetti.”

Moratti recently took the Inter Presidency back after the tragic death of Facchetti from cancer.

The Serie B Lega Calcio elections were much less fractious, as Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli and Bologna’s Alfredo Cazzola were voted in.

It wouldnt´be like that if Agnelli´s were alive.

We have to find ourselves a strong and powerful leader with lot of influence.:agree:

Then Inter can kiss our ass and watch us taking the 30th Scudetto!
