We'll be left with one striker from last season. Giovinco doesn't count
Btw, mercatos are like preparing for exams. If you months and you do nothing. On the last day all hell breaks loose
I'm not Quag's biggest fan but I'm not really for replacing him with a Gilardino/Borriello kind of player unless there's some real millions to be made.
Thats probably the reason behind the deal happening. Or it makes no sense to change another attacker. Quag wants more game time and has requested a move in all probability. Conte playing him the other night seems to suggest he wanted him to stay.
I have always liked Gila, so I'm not gonna disagree with that.
I just detest all these last minute deals that serve no real purpose. We're talking about a 5th (!) striker here. Letting go of Quag would have been fine with me, but not after selling Matri first. If the club decides we need 5 attackers, then act reasonably & keep one of the guys that's already settled in the team.
But this would be replacing for the sake of replacing. I just don't see how that makes sense. Unless it's purely financial, but I don't imagine Gila would come play for us for wages that are far less compared to Quag/Matri.
According to La Stampa's it was Quagliarella who asked to be traded so he could play regularly,
Quagliarella earns 2.2 million euro a year which makes it difficult to move him especially since Juve won't consider a loan,
Salaries of strikers in carousel: Gilardino 1.8 million, Quagliarella 2.2 million and Borriello 3.8 million.

He still has that fighting spirit in him, unlike Gila, i hate watching his lazy movements, even Toni moves a lot more than Gila.. Gila does have a very good finishing tho..

With Quag leaving you get money and avoid paying his salary while you could get a much cheaper Gilardino who could easily do the job Quag is suppose to do.
If we sell Quag for about 7-8m we would have made about 20m with the sales of Matri and Quag while relieving ourselves from about 5m in combined salary for the 2. Replace that with Gila's 1.8m and it makes a lot of sense financially.
