That's where you're mistaken. This summer is not about wasting time chasing a third choice striker or bettering the sub bench. It is about improving our starting quality. And if you think Osvaldo is going to come off the bench to score hat tricks (like QUag already did himself this year) then you're mistaken, because he's going to be using his energy whining about not playing unlike Quag and Matri.
Selling our 2nd highest scoring striker (highest CL scorer btw...) who has 1 less goal than our top scoring striker with more than double the minutes is definitely going to solve our problems...

History suggests that he can't score more than 20 goals a season; you are incredibly biased. He might have 20+ goals in a single season, but that is likely to be the exception, not the norm. The same applies to "Mr. Inconsistency."

I'm not exactly sure how you can say that Quag wouldn't have scored at least 18-20 goals this season if he got the minutes Mirko or Gio did, considering they got around double of what he got and Quag scored 13... Not to mention in your 'history', he wasn't playing in easily the best team in the league. Even if he got 1000 more minutes and his goal/minute ratio increased to 140 to exaggerate (compared to his current 113 m/g goal ratio), he still would have scored another 7. Mirko had ~1400 minutes more than Quagliarella. You are the biased one to dispute this.

You are biased though. He might be our most productive striker, but when he is off form, he is just wasteful and practically useless. He is a good striker, but definitely not one I'd keep around if an offer of 10 million came in. Like I said, every one of our attackers is up for sale, for the right price. I don't develop attachments to players, unless they are truly exceptional.

Do you not yet realise that I'm not saying he should be our starting striker? The whole foward line can't consist of only WC fowards (we are not Man City) and throwing away our most effective foward will not solve anything if that player gets injured or whatever. Quag is the last player we should be looking to replace considering that he is the most effective and consistent. By selling him we will only be creating another hole in our squad. He has shown this season that we can rely on him for goals, even in the CL.
I am not saying sell him at all costs, but for the right price, he can be offloaded. It's not like he will be impossible to replace. Remember the season when both Del Piero and Boksic, our starting pair, were plagued by injuries? Amoruso, and a certain Vieri ended up leading us to the CL Final, and we reclaimed the Serie A title from Milan.

B, what good is it selling an effective player for 10m, when you are unlikely to get anything close to that level of efficiency in the same amount. If you're going to use that amount as a contribution for a bigger player, then again, you must question who you should sacrifice in order to do that.
Is it not testament to Quag's ability that he has played pretty much against the odds in this team? Last year the formation didn't suit him. This year too he was not Conte's first choice coming off the bench for long stretches, a lot of people put that down to tactics and his behaviour. He has worked his way up the ranks, to not only feature in the team but be among the top 3-4 contributors. He would perhaps be the highest goal scorer in the league if you deduct penalties that Arturo and Mirko have taken and is already the top scorer for us in the CL. This, despite the fact that Conte has kept him on the bench for long periods while Gio, Mirko and Matri had some continuity. Even now, when Conte has switched to the one striker formation, he starts Vucinic but it's been Quag who has come in as his sub, because he's got better tehcnique than Matri and greater physicality than Gio to do this. Not bad for a striker who is not playing to his strenghts to have been able to convince Conte to give him some room. Even despite the fact that he's playing in formations that don't optimize his game, he has returned with goals. It's unfair to question that.
Do you see any other sub being our highest goal scorer in the CL for example, or come close to it in the league as well? Highly unlikely. It's no point hating on a player when he's shown to have not just the ability, but the temperament to cut it when the odds have been against him. I'd be more than happy if Quag continued here next season because he has proven that he offers more value than the 10m that you'd sell him for.
