he tracked back a lot today, especially the beginning of the game. Personally, I think he was MOM but it's just my 2 cents.

He worked so hard yesterday, fought for every ball. He often went back to collect a deflected or blocked ball to bring it in the penalty area for another try. I'm glad he scored, he really deserved the goal. Most impressive performance.

Great display, hopefully it will raise his value so we could get something for him in the summer.
Yes, selling him to get another striker whose not going to get any continuity or have figures close to his might be the way to go. Makes a lot of sense. Its something I said at the start of the season, sell the player if you give him opportunity and he doesn't perform but how can you sell someone who you bench for weeks on end and returns with displays like the one last night? 4 goals in 5 CL games. You want to sell him despite him doing the job? What abiut those who play continuously and don't do the job? We are shooting ourselves in the foot with this outlook.

Best striker in UCL this season. We should be able to sell for a handsome price.
You're right. It's not important that he scores for us. It is important that we sell him coz you're not a fan. Makes perfect sense.

Did anyone notice how fast Quagliarella was last night?
He did look fast, although it does make me wonder how fast the fat Celtic players were (Matthews aside).

At times in the first half he was really good. He does have the ability to try too much at times, but he seems to enjoy the extra bit of space that you can get in European football that isn't always there in Serie A. Teams come at us in this competition, too often we are trying to break down walls in the league.

our CL specialist, another good game from the Quag.
Not only CL, the Serie A too. He's just short of opportunity, not goals. By far, the most effective striker on the team this season despite Conte's inexplicable behaviour toward him.

Yea, the goal really capped his performance. But more than that he ran till the very end chasing the ball and that really showed that he is approaching this with the right attitude and wants to win back the management if at all, he has lost their faith.

Most effective striker in the team.

A goal/assist every 84 minutes this season.
These are just stats Tom. I think the fans here need some other kind of solid proof. Even though they cant define what it is. ;)

Seriously with that stat alone, why don't we see more of him? Frankly I don't give a shit what he said to Alessio as long as he's not causing any trouble right now.
If he keeps the form and plays, we'll be a lot more clinical than we are now, and that 6 point lead can only increase. But god knows what's keeping the think tank from thinking in the team's interest.

Did anyone notice how fast Quagliarella was last night?
Not really. Everyone was too busy noticing how saleable he is as a player, so we can cash in.

Assuming they beat Barcelona at some point in the competition, I wouldn't call them a slow team overall. This probably has more to do with the CL being a more attacking competition than the domestic league, but even there, he's proven to be pretty clinical, so we can't say he doesn't get the job done against the park the bus attitude we face in Serie a. It really is a matter of opportunity. If he enjoyed as much game time as Gio has as the striker with the most minutes, I'm pretty sure he would return higher numbers given that they're joint top scorers even though they're almost at two ends of the spectrum if you look at game time. For whatever reason Quag doesn't fit into Conte's plans, it's a bit of an anomaly given that he is doing his job more effectively than any other striker on the team, including the Coach's mainstays who make you wonder at times, if they themselves are good enough to be starters here.

Best thing about Quag is that he always knows where the goal is. He can always turn and shoot on target in positions that other strikers might not even try. I never purported that he could be anything near a world class striker. He has a lot of flaws namely his passing (see his pass to Vidal open on goal) but he always works his arse off, still has lots of pace and skill and like I said he hits the target. Easily our most composed finisher this season.

I wouldn't really complain if he left rather than Matri though because I rate them both about the same. They are different strikers though.
