I too think he's a shadow of what he once was... and it will be tough for him to break through the squad. I do think he's an adequate replacement/substitute though, will be useful when needed.

I'd consider that quite a tough call to make (if Quagliarella was willing to go there).

More than Quagliarell's worth, but would leave Juve a forward short going into the season and leave them more exposed to the dangers of Bendtner.

I think I would have felt, at this stage of the window, the offer had to be rejected.

I would have accepted a 5m offer for Quagliarella a month ago, though, probably.

Not that I put much faith in this rumour, but rejecting a 10 million offer for a player like Quag seems extremely unlikely to me, regardless of it being on the last day of the transfer period.

How often are we going to need 5 attackers anyway? And when we do, will Iaquinta be that much of a worse option to have? Or someone like Giaccherini even? A primavera player?
All less than ideal, I know, but how much use is there going to be for a 5th attacker? Assuming that we signed Bendtner to actually play a role (shiver).

Common. Are you really going to blame him for Udinese's goal? this place is more off balance than Quag in that case.

No, but seriously, you are completely right, he does need to compose himself. Just trying to so too much too quickly, coz off the short amount of time given to him. Will settle down as the season progresses. Matri is no better when dealing with this situation, and we've all seen when Matri gets enough time he does a good job too. The season is long and winding, I'm pretty sure both will settle in slowly but surely because theyre both great players to have coming off the bench even at the highest levels.

Even as Quag's fanboy though, I will criticise him where its due, so we should give him this season to put the injury behind him and work his way up the ranks coz he's capable. Also remember, he himself vetoed a couple of moves despite knowing he'd be fourth or fifth choice. Shows that he wamts to work his way up, and you can see he's eager to prove it. This season, the jury is out. If he gets time and doesn't deliver, I'll be the first to say sell him. But coming here and criticising both players after 15 mins of game time and one or two preseason friendlies is a redundant exercise. Theyre both better players an they're being made out to be. The season will prove it to us.

With Vucinic and Gio in the team I dont see that happening.
Not last season but the pre season games, he's over, deal with it.

I think he could've put in a better shift. There were a couple of nice movements 1-2 with Marchisio, and the ball into the box that Marchisio headed and Matri let bounce before hitting it, but apart from that I don't think he worked hard enough. Should've put in more work rate. But that said, these few minutes are very important to give both players so they feel important to the team's cause and find their rhythm so that they don't struggle when called upon, as the season progresses.

I think that with 4 strikers u are pretty much covered for all competitions, and if One gets injured, theres is always a primavera dude who can come up for the coppa games and so on.

WHat worries me is that now with the gio-vuci partnership needing more time to be tested and settled... Matri and quags will have so little time to play...well at least for now. We have to see how fatigue influence our performances, because maybe with the addition of CL and coppa... those 2 will get more minutes.

They need minutes, its just that i dont see they getting much playing time.... at least not whats needed for them to start rolling. On top of that theres this bendner guy who also needs to be used..... gosh...

I'm not sure what you expect, he does a decent job for a backup role but if you expect him to be devastating that isn't going to happen with 15 mins every couple of weeks.

The thing is he doesn't do nothing. He almost put Vucinic or Marchisio (forgot) through for goal with a nice flick on. Why are you not hating on Matri too? He didn't do any better or worse.

That's actually really unfair, given that he did t even play for the first four months of last season, and then Borriello came, which saw him and Matri scrapping for minutes. Despite that he got 4 goals. This year will be a fairer assessment. You have to realise that he came in last year into a new formation and style of play that wasn't there in the year he got injured. This season, he should find time to adapt, and find his rhythmn. Lets judge him end of season.
