Fabio Quagliarella could be targeted by Fiorentina this summer, having become surplus to requirements at Juventus.

Tutto Mercato Web believe that the 29-year-old will leave the Bianconeri at the end of the season after the club announced the arrival of Fernando Llorente this afternoon.

The Spain international will sign on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao, with Olympique Lyonnais forward Lisandro Lopez also being heavily linked with a move to Antonio Conte's side.

The arrival of both players will see Quagliarella on the fringes of the first team, something the Italy international will look to change by asking to leave the club.

The website claim that the Viola are favourites to sign the former Napoli man, with a bid of around €10m likely to be enough for his signature.

Personally I see Matri and Llorente having more in common than Llorente and Quag comparatively. Plus, Quag has been undoubtedly in superior form; if one must go then it must be Matri.. I'm sad as I like them both, but the proof is in the pudding and Matri's pudding has been left wanting..

This. Matri would be 3rd choice behind Lisandro & Llorente, whereas Quag can play as striker or SS. Quag also showing much more form will count too

The reason I'd rather keep Matri is exactly because he's, at least somewhat, more comparable to Llorente than Quag. If we hold true that two different positions are to be filled on the field, then we must hold true that at least 2 players suited for each of those positions should be in the squad.

Regardless of intermittent experiments, Quag is not a spearhead. When he does his best work he works in the space created by such a spearhead. We already have two players better suited for this role in Vucinic and Giovinco.

Now, if a better alternative to Matri as back up for that spearhead position taken by Llorente should present itself, by all means, 'so long, Matri.' Until then, I think he will stay and rightly so.
