I will reserve judgment on players until at least 3-4 rounds into the season.

It's still July FFS. Plenty of time for players to regain form and match fitness. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really want Quag in the team next season.

Unfortunately this decline of Quagliarella has been apparent since his injury. We can hope he just needs a couple of goals, but I doubt this is the problem.

That first chance yesterday when Licht set him up
(btw, who sent that sweet pass to Licht?)

That chance makes everything irrelevant. It doesn't matter that it's only July and pre-season. It wouldn't have been that bad if he touched the ball and missed an open net. Those things happen. But he didn't even get the ball. Even with 1 liter of vodka in your blood, on a dark pitch in the middle of a moonless night...if you're a striker you will get that ball. You can't call yourself a striker and not even get a touch there.
It was really shocking to watch him stand like that.

I never knew where to place this guy. He obviously doesn't have the striker's instinct and he most definitely doesn't have the vision or passing skills of a SS. He's an ok player and he's often unpredictable with his shots and movement. But he has very little football intelligence and such players should play their football elsewhere, not in top clubs.

This.
It doesnt matter if its just a pre season game. Vidal looked like he's not 100% into that match but he still performed decently. Quag on the other hand, is completely wasteful.

Its good that its just a preseason so we have time to load him off.

I'd agree if I hadn't seen him do so well in a Juve shirt before.

Well yes, a Juve where Milos Krasic was the best player and main star (btw, I find Krasic similar to Quag in more than one way, despite the different position they occupy on the field). It was a Juve where the goals were expected from Amauri and Iaquinta. Where Sissoko and Melo were the brains in midfield. A Juve of Del Neri and Marco Motta. That's exactly what I said. That's the kind of club where Quag belongs, not a top club.

He still scored 9 goals in half a season with these poor players, in the same league we have just won with no one matching that figure.

His partnership with Del Piero was strong, perhaps contrasting the insinuation you are making that he is a dumb player.

It's probably not a real shock that his poorer form follows a career-changing injury, rather than team mates around him.

It again means nothing. Amauri scored 11 in September-December 2008. Iaquinta scored 10 in the second half of 2008/09 season. It only makes it a good half season for Quag, it doesn't make him a good striker. He never was anything more than an ok striker before he came to Juve, or after that half season.

He's not an intelligent striker, that's pretty obvious. In his entire career he never managed to find a position for himself on the pitch. We still argue if he's a SS or a CF. We do it because he's none. He's definitely more of a CF than a SS, but he doesn't have the nose for a goal, for positioning.

The injury had consequences on his confidence, that's obvious. It didn't rob him of his talent, though, because he always lacked talent. He's basically a Iaquinta, without Iaq's positioning in the opponents box and sense for goal.
