Since some markets are still open, if we manage to sell some of the dead weight my rate will increase.

Read somewhere we ended mercato with 13m in the green?
Well Mandzu could still go to China or Qatar, also I think the turkish market is still open - but I really hate when Juve makes a deal with a Turkish team.
Wonder who is the other guy that we consider out of squad - Benta, Matuidi or Can?

Matuidi.

wrote a long ass rant yesterday, deleted it. long story short: it's like beppe never left, always the same sideways steps on the mercato. this time our fullback situation is worrying, and there's a newly discovered issue, too: ageing, too big squad with old players having too long contracts, too high wages. the club should exclude 5 (!) senior players from the cl squad, whose overall wage bill is likely to match lecce's complete wage bill. that's unprecedented, wasteful economics, and it also creates tension in the locker. i'm happy for demiral and de ligt, i welcome the two new midfielders, but the spinazzola - pellegrini swap was retarded. we should have accepted city's offer for the cancelo = danilo + cash swap and keep spina as a depth player. the failure to sell is an obvious critique paratici has to face after this summer. at least we didn't get icardi.

for me it's a 6/10 at best, just like most of our current summer campaigns.

I think 7 is the fair score. Bottom line, overall the squad has improved but not by a huge margin but it was done within sustainable economic parameters (which no-one here spends enough time considering given that Ronaldo is costing us EU60m a year in gross wages).

With the exception of the full backs, all other departments are equal or better than last year.

GKs +ve. Don't underestimate the positive benefit of Buffon being back. I think his leadership will be a big plus.

DEF - Neutral to positive. Despite De Ligt's poor debut, overall central defense is better than last year with Demiral as well (aside from Chiellini injury was not the fault of the mgt). As discussed full backs are arguably worse given departures of Spina and Cancelo. But Spina was hardly used and Cancelo was a liability defensively and Sarri would play with an asymmetric full back system where one is more offensive than the other (as was the case elswhere). Jury is out on Danilo.

MID - Positive. Although an improvement this is the area where perhaps we could have done more in my opinion. Rabiot is a positive but not a guarantee and Ramsey is great but his fitness is an ongoing concern. This is the area where I think we may still be behind some of the biggest competitors in Europe. Having said that Rabiot and Ramsey were done on free deals although on reasonably high wages. Biggest regret was not being able to dispose of 2 other non-core mids to get a high profile proven midfielder that would be an automatic starter.

FWDs - Small Positive. I think despite the disappointment of Kean's departure, Higuain is better than Kean at least for now and I think we will see a better Higuain compared to last year when he wasn't with us. Dybala is probably going to be used more as a forward this year which means he is much more likely to have a higher goals per game ratio compared to last year.

From a financial standpoint (as I have mentioned in other posts), the activity has been actually a slight positive to the P&L this year due to the plusvulensa. So we are set for this financial year. For the following year we would need either more plusvulensa or reduce the wage bill and reduce the squad size in order to make way for any reinforcements in the following year.

Biggest frustration ironically is not being able to reduce the size of the squad in time. This creates value erosion for players who don't play which is inevitable given the exceptionally large squad size and the likelihood of Sarri adopting a far less generous rotation scheme vis a vis Allegri.

I might not fully agree with you but at least someone was thinking before posting..

Anything over 7 is insane rating for me. Closer to 6 or 5ish IMO. Has been a cluster fuck mercato for most of the summer.
Remember this post - Unless we meet them before the final will be Juve-Liverpool
Really improved our defence
Improved our mid
Improved our attack

Yeah I`d like a Pogba or a Neymar but considering how it went - its overall a very positive mercato IMO

@JCK You missed one are you getting sloppy?!

Hopefully, but I have my doubts - why would he start first two games if we dont want him?

edit: gazetta thinks it will be Can or Ramsey:

I wouldn't be surprised if Bentancur is the midfielder that is excluded. At least based on usage up to this point that is what I would suspect given that Can has been used. Ramsey I see as a the type of "IMPACT" player Sarri could use and he should in theory be at his disposal as soon as the Fiorentina game. Can is the type of player who could be used in a full back position as well now that we only have 3 recognized full backs so having Can and Cuadrado as make shift full backs may be seen as useful.

As much as I want to rate the mercato i think it is difficult until you've really seen the team perform. I mean fuck last September I had thought we were coming off of an excellent mercato.

They are called deadweight for a reason, just look at icardi at inter to get how hard it is to move players. Players have way too much power these days.
For sure.

Strange how we went from selling players as soon as they asked to our inability to sell players we no longer need.

It reminds me of the Federal Government here...so many under-performing employees but its extremely challenging to terminate employment even when an employee screws up royally lol

What's annoying is, players like Mario, Dybala, & Matuidi all had decent offers or at least interest that they could have entertained to spark serious discussions but all fell on deaf ears. Mario I think could have gone to what, Bayern and A.Madrid? But he opted to miss out on CL and playing time?

Im going to give this mercato a 8.5
GK-Couldnt move Perin which should have been a plus while getting Buffon back
Defense-Lost a few players in Spinna and Cancelo. Brought in Danilo and MDL who was the most prized cb in europe. Also got him on a 5 years payout which is big for us. Bringing in Demiral and Romero are both great for either playing purposes or to sell and make a big gain.
Midfield-I think Rabiot will end up being incredible for us in the next few years and we got him free. Ramsey we will have to see about fitness but I dont see a negative at all in this. My only issue was not letting one of the mids go.
Forwards-My only issue here is not trimming the squad a little bit. Really we have to many players and its unneeded. Pluses though are Higuain coming back who will be an upgrade and keeping all the stars.
Coach:Sarri is a plus for me bc I think with Ronaldo we will slowly become more effective going forward and really as a collective unit.

All in all I think our team is better in every area over last season and we also are younger as a squad
