Yikes man his movement is always good but he’s so bad in the final third. So bad.

Maybe we should try him at regista again. That’s where his best games came last season.

Nah he would be ruined in two games as registration when his looses cost us goals.
He is young, is having a rough period, this is normal. Playing him should pay us off in the end.

I think his position is fine, his movement around the box is really good and I think that's the role he'll play for the majority of his career. I'm not a fan of changing young player's positions too much.

But his end product is poor and he has been wasteful. You have to accept it with young players, you can see he is talented. But it is frustrating. That one in the second half when Rabiot picked him out and he took a poor touch was a standout because his touch can be so good. I think a goal or assist would settle him down a bit because not having one looks like it is affecting him.

Gifed some moments in the game. Besides poor touch, two areas he also needs to work on are: shooting (range) and decision-making.

In the 2nd and 4th cases he could take a shot directly (though both would be tough try) but he chose to stop the ball.

In the 1st and 3rd cases the first touches ain't that bad. He then tried to hold the ball but his rate were a bit slow to support his following moves. It might be too much to ask but in both cases a backpass to Rabiot may create a better chance.

I think these things are related. He is probably not very confident with his shooting ability so he needs to make more adjustments before taking a shot. And it causes hesitation which leads to poor decision.

On the other hand, he needs to learn to read the situation well before receiving the ball, e.g. where his teammates are, how many defenders are around him, so as to know whether to hold, to dribble or to make one-touch pass. If AM is his natural position then quick and wise decision-making is the most important quality.

Anyway he's only 19 and these weaknesses are to be expected, just keep fielding him and we'll see the improvement. For now it seems to be more a confidence thing than a technical one. Like @Boksic said, a goal will help the kid.

Max clearly rates him more than the rest of the young ones despite being one of the youngest, and he’s being given chances even when he’s made numerous mistakes. At some point he’ll have to show clear improvement, otherwise he will get relegated to the bench. He was really good at the beginning of the season, so hopefully it’s a matter of confidence like you say and he turns it around.

I was called an idiot for suggesting that this kid out to be loaned out, yet this option is becoming more and more logical with every poor game that goes by. He is simply not ready for this level.

Confidence is gone, that's all it is. He will learn from it. Probably saw a his younger team mates scoring then got in his head about it. The talent is there, just needs to get past this negative moment.
