I thought your comments of, "he has saved our asses more times than not" was hilarious, as it's not only wrong but that would also mean your statement about him leaving is contradictory.

So which is it?

In my view, both Legro and Canna have been poor and they don't deserve a distinction between one another. But instead we fart around giving phony fluffed credit to players just because they have one good game that people focus on because they are shortsighted.
He needs to leave because of his age, but he hasn't been as bad as many people suggest, that's all I'm saying here. He's definitely been better than Legrottaglie, that's not even up for debate imo. Legro lacks so many things a defender needs it's rather scary, whereas Cannavaro struggles mainly because of the lack of pace, not because he just doesn't realise what's going on.

I've said this about Cannavaro numerous times, it's not a knee-jerk reaction.

Besides, I don't see what's wrong about giving a player credit for a decent game. I guess it's a crime, since he's a traitor.

Same as Iaquinta, he had one good game last week and all of sudden he's world class.

Knee-jerking it all the way home.
You are spot on about Iaquinta but wrong about Cannavaro. He has played very well in the past three of four games now.

If it comes down to keeping one of him or Legro next season I would go for Cannavaro any day.

About these 'knee-jerk' reactions, I've just read them again. All that's being said it how he's been 'the best in this pathetic half....' and what I said about him being better than Legro, which I've said about 20 times this season.

We're hardly rating him world class again, like many have been doing with Iaquinta, I'll give you that. He's been alright in a disastrous half and I honestly believe I could do a better job than Legro, so that's hardly saying a lot.

I know you have a problem with the guy, but come on..

Perhaps we have been forgetting matches like that against Fulham when Canna had a shocker, or in some of the other losses that have plagued our season.

I just think it's ridiculous to give praise to these players when they have both been shite, especially Canna who was horrendous in two of our worst losses this season. And yeah, who gives a care if recently he had a couple good performances.

They both stink and deserve the boot. One shouldn't have been brought back anyway.

Who cares about the last few games? Too little, too late.

He fucked up in some of our most important matches this season.

I don't see whats wrong with saying a player did alright in a game, even if, according to you, it's one of very few good performances. Credit where credit is due.

If any player who never plays for us or is usually shit does great, you can still say he had a good game, especially if you say he's the best of a shit bunch, which doesn't require a lot. I simply don't understand what your problem is with that.

I do realise Canna's had bad games, never said he didn't.

I'm not even going to start about how many times Legro just stood there like a spectator jogging back, seemingly not giving a shit about us getting raped or simply being as clueless as PDC when it comes to covering his man.

Let's agree to disagree, if we can't even give credit to a certain player for a decent half or call him better than someone else, there's really no point in discussing this.

Nah, Legro has no place in this team. He's old, and was never remotely close to Cannavaro in terms of ability. And it's exactly the reason why we've not been good defensively over the last few seasons, because we've settled for poor players.
I think that we have been pretty good defensively over the past 2 seasons. The numbers will back that up as well.

Definitely. He has been one of our most decent players over all. Shame about his run of poor games in November & December.

Don't agree with that though. For me, they have both been equally "good".

And Iaquinta had no good good games this year? He was very good at the beginning of the year. Maybe you cant remember that far back but we were scoring alot and he went down we started to struggle because Amauri couldn't do it and DP was hurt.

To remove Cannavaro for the sake of bringing in a younger player who will not perform at the same level is just ridiculous. Canna like the entire Juve squad has had his share of poor games this season but in my opinion he has been moth than good enough to hold his place in the team and win a contract for next season. He still reads the game better than most defenders in the game and is the best timer of tackles we have.

I believe that Canna's biggest problem this season is that he (and Chiellini & Buffon) haven't had the support from the fullbacks or defensive midfielders that was there in previous years. Grosso has forgotten how to defend, we've had no constant RB all season and the poor passing from the midfield has constantly put the defense under pressure. And if we were to buy a young CB what better player to learn his trade from than arguably the best CB of the last 10 years?

I wonder if Canna was never sold to Real Madrid if people would be calling for his head like they are now? Juve did a great thing by bringing him back and could do a lot worse than giving him a new contract...

:andyandbarcelona: Judging by your post, I am assuming you might want him to start alongside Chiellini next season as well :shifty:
I want the best possible starting 11 we have. I'm just a little sick of people bagging Canna when he's been far from our worst player this season. Too many narow minded people who just like to hold grudges...

But we did make him into the best defender in Europe. And even though a lot of fans have a somewhat bitter-sweet relationship he was a beast for us.

I don't care if he recieved the award while he was a Real player. We all know he earned it while he was at Juve.

Sure, all Im saying is that I don't consider him a Juve legend while no one denies he was at his best when playing in the Juve shirt.
