Sure thing but I can see this happening with another dissapointing transfer campaign,afterall Trez is a champ & has become accustomed to success.A lack of serious & solid reinforcements will cause a ripple effect from the BOD,coach,players & fans.

I just think it would be a seious blunder to release Trez unless its Benzema to replace him as finding a proven goal poacher is hard & expensive.

Even if we sell him I don't think we'll sign someone as we're counting on Amauri but in 2 years I think it would be some top class striker.

The agent of Azzurri skipper Fabio Cannavaro has confirmed that he is in negotiations with Juventus.

Cannavaro left Juve in the summer of 2006 after the Calciopoli scandal and signed for Real Madrid.

With his contract set to expire shortly, Canna has been linked to several Italian sides, but it seems he wants to rejoin the Old Lady.

“After the end of January I was able to start listening to offers for Fabio,” Enrico Fedele told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“But I have to stress that until a month ago no offers had arrived from Italy and the most concrete approaches were from England, France and Russia.

“Then, a month ago, Juventus asked if Fabio was still available and we began discussions after I had spoken to the player.

“Juve behaved totally correctly and approached Real Madrid first. Fabio would be very, very happy to return to the Bianconeri and would take a sizeable pay cut.

“I don't know whether Marcello Lippi encouraged Juve to make this move, I just know that we could sign a multi-year deal.

“There is still a lot to discuss, but Real have received a fax from Juventus. I think that the Turin club have a big project that demands immediate investment and they have the chance to sign an idol for free.”

Yeah but not in this case if (and we should) get rid of 4-4-2 for the next season.Eboue has extanded his contract so we should look somewhere else.

There's no point of playing 4-4-2 if we get Diego and that we'd need to buy some AMR because we shouldn't rely on Camo who's injury prone and we know how bad Marchionni actually is.

4-3-2-1 is the answer for us.We could sell Iaquinta/Trez so we could buy both Hamsik(or someone of that value) & Diego.Would work much better than 4-4-2 considering our situation.

Shit about Eboue. He would have been a top-class RB and he could also replace Camo when injured. Thats a pity.

Maybe a bit too offensive, but Hamsik is a worker, as well as Camo. With Camo injured, Marchisio could fill that spot.

You underrate the notion of error prone, Chiellini is a rough defender who is still developing, he is inconsistent but very good, can be off form or such, but wouldnt call him error prone, would have to be consistently so to get that tag. Seen him shut down too many top strikers to call him that. Canna in comparison though has been making consistent errors for the last 2-3 years, he is off key way too often. Its sad to see, Chiellini is defenitely better then him, even if he isnt as talented to say the least.

In a sense, I do see what you are saying. My concern is that if we get a young bright talented CB with out much experience, that means we have two CBs with a lot to learn and that will be much riskier than Canna with Chiellini mentoring/teaching the younger defenders.

We do not have someone who can orchestrate a backline. As Red said, if Canna is slow the other 3 will compensate for that, but in terms of intelligence no one reads a game better IMO. I doubt he will play every game anyways, I don't think that is why the Board has opted for him. It is more to develop our youth for a year (or two). Canna probably does not have 3 different competitions in his legs anymore, but if he gets one or two games out of 3 all season long I am sure he will benefit this team a lot.

Well, that definitely makes this a real story now. Yesterday I kinda brushed this off pure speculation. But now it seems Juve are really going to try & bring Canna in. It would benefit both sides. Canna's more suited for Italian footie. He struggled a bit in Spain, but who can blame him, it's a totally different style. I would not be surprised at all if Lippi had a hand in this...

I've said this before and I'll no doubt say it again, people mustn't allow themselves to get so emotional.

I hope all of you who have changed jobs because of being offered more money consider yourselves to be traiterous mercenaries.

Cannavaro would be a good short term solution. If we only have enough cash to sign a Nedved replacement and RB, Cannavaro on a free transfer is a good way to strengthen the CB position. We can then get that top class CB next summer.

As for Cannavaro's age and his losing his pace, his positioning and organisation of the other defenders will more than compensate.

If I remember correctly, he left because of prolonging his Azzurri career. At least he left the country knowing it would have hurt Juve by making a team like Inter/Milan stronger (our rivals).

I think the following summer, as you said, we should be set in pretty much all areas and can focus on a top class CB with our budget. Who knows, we may make it farther in the CL and have more money to spend.

I fail to see how youth products develop by warming the bench & watching a declining legend ply his trade.They get forced down the pecking order with Mellberg & Kne-whatever ahead of them.At the end of the day if players dont get a chance to prove their worth,whats the point of having a youth academy.
