TBH moving Chiellini on the left back position makes sense. Although Lippi used him as a CB, he had shown that him and Canna are not the safest bet working together. So if we get Santacroce and Ariaudo becomes more involved during the season, I am sure, we will see a lot of rotation for Chiellini.
One thing I am certain about is that with Ferrara we'll have a better defence than last year regardless of the transfers and that is good enough for me. The pure creativity and strength we have in front would suffice IMO.

Santacroce would be really useful! He would be an extra insurance if Zebina gets injured again and if Grygera sux as much as he usually does!
We dont have to risk him as a starter right away this year, but he can eventually become Canna's successor and long term Chiellini's partner in our defense!

This way, we ensure our future and avoid all risks!
If Canna and Legro suddenly prove to slow/old etc, Santa could step up right away!
Next year, he want be that cheap, we should rather get him now and avoid letting Canna+Legro to force us overpaying for him in a couple of years, in order to replace them asap!

I'd go for it,I remember his good forward runs and excellent crosses back then,he rocked at the center back TBH but I see him more useful on flank....

It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Did you even SEE how Chiellini shut down top players in Serie A playing in the center?

He is a central back, not a wing back, because that's just his best position.

Mods, can you start banning people who want Chiellini to play out wide?

Yea, Chiellini is certainly a CB. I wouldn't mind him being used like Puyol and plays some games at LB out of necessity, but he's a CB. Santacroce is for the future.

He shuted down well on occasions

can you tell me,what silverware did he won as centerback in Juventus?
You can't offer that as an argument, Barks. That's like saying we shouldn't buy Ribery because he hasn't won a Scudetto, or saying we should sell Giovinco because he hasn't won a tournament with us in the full side.

And Trezeguet won a lot of titles with us... ;)

Maybe direct them to the local psych ward, or to their nearest substance abuse councillor?
