:agree: And the worst part is that next season we may have to sign a new Striker to replace Trez, a World Class LW as I think Martinez won't cut it and possibly just possibly a new SS if Diego doesn't adapt to that posistion well enough.

When will the rebuilding end? :sergio:
But we'll have a proper defense for once. LB is coming soon, ST can wait for next year (Amauri+Treze is enough as long as we don't play in CL) and your "World Class LW" will probably come from Parma :lick:

I only saw teh 2nd half today, and I was happy with the performance, considering that we're still in the early stages of development. A few more signings and I'll have the heart to watch us again.

Juventus were not at all impressive in this game.
Keep in mind it was against a rubbish team, with not one notable player.

Worrying signs of another long season

We definitely do.

The problem is that we lack a lot even when Diego is playing. There are at least 3-4 new good players needed in the starting XI.
Well of course we do. Lanzafame, Pepe and Sissoko in the same midfield? Jesus, that's crap, really.

Better hope for both Krasic and a good ball-playing replacement for Poulsen.

Otherwise, it will be the same old crap.

I think our defense was good, Bonucci & Chiellini looked good. The midfield was a bit shaky at times, but since we're only playing against shamrocks thats why we didnt see anything dangerous. Our attack was nice, i can see Amauri has really improved & Del Piero's free kick was a stunner.

Overall a decent game, even though we didnt play a strong team, it was good for a winning mentality.

i thought you were reffering of this speciific game...imo dp did good (maybe great) in subbing him in the 2nd half, i didn't missed him.

@ nicholas...our Lord Jesus Christ had a saying when he was downtown with his Apostoles: "give Caesar what belongs to Caesar"
And Dru had a saying when he was downtown with his homies before his recent wedding: "No meat, bitch. Give me a Caesar Salad without the chicken."

No surprise that the Momo/Marchisio combination isn't looking too clever. Its a vital part of the team, an engine room of a 4-4-2, which we must get as Right as possible. Not sure what Melo can do, but if he is happy in heart and focused in mind, he may be wicked alongside Marchisio.

I do wonder what Delneri is looking for in the centre of midfield. Poulsen leaving and Ekdal sent on loan, with Tiago also on his way out. Those are three midfielders who are at least OK on the ball. Admittedly, Poulsen just keeps things simple, nothing creative or wonderful, but that is a damn sight more than Momo is capable of.

As others have said, we need more than just tacklers in the middle of the park...

We'll see if Marotta will try to add a ball-playing central mid in the place of Poulsen, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

1-0 win from a free-kick by DP ???

Sounds all too familiar....we only scored from damn set-pieces last season (or so it seemed), and now we continue the trend against a bunch of amateurs who are from an alcoholics league.

just fucking great....Del Neri and Marotta arent the solution

Wasn't it Ranieri who said that Alonso was too slow for Serie A?

Not sure about Marotta yet, but Del Neri? Yeah, he isn't, and never was.

Welcome back Brohan!

Vinman is right about one thing, waiting for DP to save the day well those days are over.

We played at home against a team like Shamrock Rovers and it took us scoring from a free kick to win by one goal.

I'm sorry, I'm still not feeling Diego. And what andy says, our midfield isn't exactly world beaters. I only see 2 world beaters on our team and its buffon and chiellini.

I watched the game and I thought we played well considering the conditions were so bad. If Lionel Messi was on our side, we still would have won 1-0 the pitch was very bad.

Excellent heart by the boys.

You're looking at it in a very simplistic way. The pitch today was hell, and whatever shit quality in their feet Shamrock Rovers had, they had quite a few very physical players, and with the pitch being what it is, it was always going to be a physical battle.

How can you expect Juve to impress and score 5 times when none of the passes are predictable? Class like Marchisio's and Diego's doesn't really show, it was a tough game in tough circumstances and Juve won without too much fuss, I think we did well enough.

But yeah, eliminate Diego and bring in yet another tower like Dzeko, now THAT'd be the solution to our problems, 4 tall towers that suck with their feet, right Hustini?

knee jerk me hard, the pitch was flooded, it rained in the second as well.

give it time, the team is relatively new they need to gel, krasic will help a lot. we are a bit reliant on diego but im sure when players gain full fitness it will change, we just started our prep, the hoops are halfway through there season, no excuse but come on the pitch was terrible and i think the players knew the result was in the bag.

Well, not a really enjoyable game thanks to the conditions. The result & the overall performance satisfies me, but there were definitely 2 things that worried me:

- Our inability to create chances: This probably has a lot to do with those impossible conditions though.
- Our lacklustre organisation & defending on set pieces: This, on the other hand, has nothing to do with the conditions. And we're going to need a lot of work on this aspect of the game, or we will get slaughtered sooner rather than later.

As for ratings I'll be brief.

De Ceglie 7 - Really good 1st half. I was really impressed by how he handled the pitch.
Amauri 6,5 - Not a great start, but got better as the game went on. Should have scored though.
Del Piero 7 - Had a huge impact on the game, brilliant vision & reading of the game. Fun freekick as well.
Other players 6 - Mostly decent.
