Look at the teams that have already qualified. Only 4 of them can be considered big guns; if Holland and Spain don't qualify, this looks like it's not going to be a very eye catching EC.
From these 11,6 are considered as big guns and they are:
France,Portugal,Italy,Czech,England,Germany.

Well, call me biased but for me....

Spain and Holland for sure..... Euro04 would be weird without them

For the rest... may the best team win/qualify

  • Netherlands - Scotland ---> NETHERLANDS

Seems Advocaat agrees with you Erik:-

ADVOCAAT WANTS HAMPDEN RETURN

Dick Advocaat says Scotland are his preferred choice of Euro 2004 play-off opponents for his Holland side.

The ex-Rangers boss, now in charge of the Dutch national team, told the Daily Record: "I know all of the Scottish players, which is a big advantage.

"But there is more to it than that. I had some great times with Rangers at Hampden and I'd love to go back there with Holland," he added.

Dick Advocaat says he wants his Holland side to meet Scotland in the Euro 2004 playoffs, but not because he feels they will be an easy touch.
(YES HE DOES.....RB)

The ex-Rangers boss said: "I'm not saying they are the easy choice, (YES HE IS...RB) though I know Berti Vogts has a difficult job.

"The fans are getting behind the team again so it would be a great atmosphere and very difficult, especially if the second game was in Glasgow," he added.

Dick Advocaat doesn't doubt that Scotland would give his Holland team a run for their money if they are drawn together in the Euro 2004 play-offs.

The former Rangers manager said: "I know Scotland would give us a tough time, home and away.

"You have a lot of youngsters in your team and these boys will work like horses because it means everything to them," he added.

Berti Vogts wish to face Holland in the Euro 2004 playoffs due to the rivalry between the Dutch and the Scotland manager's native Germany has sparked a response from Dick Advocaat.

The ex-Rangers boss, now in charge of Holland, said: "You can tell him we'll do our talking on the Hampden pitch.

"If we are paired together we will show Berti exactly what we can do. We intend to be in Portugal next year," he added.
