Read these comments lol. How did England become the most hated football nation? I used to think it was only me.
keep in mind, Optus Sports is a Australian company (Optus is the second biggest telco here, and they have rights to epl, la liga, euros etc)

Australians HATE England in international sports. There’s a huge rivalry between our nations in a few sports. Yes, the general Aussie is an EPL glazing chud, but when it comes to National teams of any kind, any good Aussie will be supporting against England and vice versa ask @JuveJay

    Would anyone consider John Stones to be up there with the greatest CB's of all time?

    I notice he never gets much credit but I rarely see him making any major mistakes. Potentially, he would be a 6 times EPL winner, CL winner and (potentially) an European champion winning basically every trophy there is. He's only 30 and probably has a couple of years left in him.
    :rofl: :howler: No

    This sort of football deserves to be retired to the dustbin of history. The guy has the best squad by a mile in the competition and chose to play like a minnow and kept counting on moments of individual magic to get through.
    He has the greatest depth, but definitely not the best squad - I mean, it's subjective after all. I think the French team, on paper, is still the best, but they have their own version of Southgate.

    Even if he has/had the best squad as you proclaim, it's not by a mile. France, Spain, Germany, and Portugal all have an abundance of talent.

    Spain to pass Italy and Germany as the team that has won the most Euros next tournament?
    They're future looks bright
    Spain, with this win, already has 4 titles, Germany are on 3, with both France and Italy on 2 each.

    Yeah basically. And it's pretty familiar across all of the Commonwealth nations and home nations - they all desperately want to beat England. Australia have such a strong sporting culture it's a bit fiestier.

    And English people generally are fairly happy to see a home nation team like Wales or Scotland do well, regardless if they have ties to the country, but you will rarely see that reciprocated, and not just from nationalists. It's actually quite funny how English people don't understand the dynamic. This interview with John McGinn and Ollie Watkins is hilarious, look how crestfallen Watkins is that his teammate won't support his team doing well at a tournament lol;

    and again, data is spot on:

    and they had players like kane, bellingham, foden, palmer (etc) who score a lot for their clubs. good mentality, dysfunctional team work

    Spain finally becoming a powerhouse in international football after underachieving for decades.

    Their WC record apart from 2010 WC is still pretty poor though.
