This really should have been my tournament to pick up the slack from Nicky Beans.
Remember, for ENG-SVK at the 92nd minute with SVK up 1-0, I saw the 5000:1 odds for ENG to win and thought, “Hey, I’d take that bet.”
Never signed up for an account.
But be relived. I picked ESP to win 2-1, but only aet after they’d draw 1-1 at the end of regulation. Then Cucu4CocoaPuffs messed that up.

This is precisely it, you're right that there is a particular dynamic going on that many English don't get because they've never considered the other side. What McGinn says is right, it's insufferable. I'm in England now but people back in Scotland told me the entire weekends news and other media was taken over by coverage of the English team. You'd think they want Scots to be hated, but actually it's that they don't understand that there are other nations in the UK.
It's the same when English politicians say "The North" when talking about northern England in a context which presumes the UK as a whole. Starmer saying during the women's euros "I'm sure all of us wish the English team well" and when the NI MPs were shouting "And what about us??" he turned around smiling like an idiot because he had no idea what was happening.
Love my English friends (yourself included, Jay), family and girlfriend and the stunning Yorkshire countryside. Fucking hate "England" and "The English".

So to sum it up they are giving compliments to each other, then Morata saying how happy he was for Chiellini and Italy winning it also last time out and to see him bringing out the trophy last night was also a good sign for them, thanking him for how well he always treated him and being an example to admire for him and all players, Chiellini reciprocating that he was hoping to see Morata lift the trophy.
I get the criticism of Southgate, but England were only good for 5 minutes where Palmer scored and they were on the front foot. Spain were rattled but quickly adjusted because Rice was the only tackler in midfield, Mainoo was sacrificed. Watkins, Palmer, and Saka aren't bad but they're not good enough to go alone and pin Spain back. Yamal and Williams had England scared so they had to always double up on them.
Then you have Foden and Bellingham who don't pass and just move around the pitch slowly, they don't release quickly enough and get caught. Spain were switching and spreading play when England were pressing. Kane wasn't great but they never crossed to him or used him as a target man, he was a playmaker with no runners ahead.
The English need to understand that their star players are carried by better players in their clubs and that they're no way near as talented as they think. Fucking Bellingham like Zidane? Zizou would win this final by himself. His passing, vision, finishing, control, gliding runs, free kicks, headers, volleys, and everything in between were leagues above Bellingham.
Yet the English still believe that had Southgate made the brave changes of Trippier and Gallagher, the outcome would be different. Wankers.

I'm thinking of a narcissistic trait here, it's all about them. You are under our thumb, without us (London) your nothing. The north you're referring to, I would class as anywhere above midlands.
A lot of the people are not that bad, it would be wrong and stereotypical to brush them all the same. For me, it's the media (talk sport or talkshite, to sky sport etc you name it, there eggsperts make you cringe) and then it's the majority gullible cunts all around you that fall for this shit. It's like the media can't exaggerate nor lie. Then comes the EPL fans, politicians etc With that said, I can happily have a non football conversation with fellow Englishman, if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't be here.

Cities like Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield it's less Yes you support your nation but you move on. Then comes Newcastle and Sunderland(land of the Pickford) where the delusion is brewed again. Again that's my perception I could be wrong. Maybe it's down to education level and socioeconomic, like the Neapolitans of England.

It's also funny that so many footie fans before the Euro, with England named a front-runner, talked about how great the English side's attack was and how their defense was dubious. To me that reflects context: people primarily perceive player capabilities through the biases of the leagues of their club play. And for the most part, the EPL in hardly a showcase for defensive prowess nor how teams might oppose defensive prowess.
In the light of an international tournament, suddenly it's the England defense that doesn't look half bad while everyone second-guesses their glorious attack.

Ingurland will win something sooner or later. As mentioned, most of the squad is still very young. Few of them are playing for top clubs outside England and maybe we can see this becoming a growing trend.
You don't associate a team like England regularly competing in the last rounds of cup tournaments so for them to make back to back finals is an achievement for them.
Last night was like watching Allegro's JJ in those finals against Madrid and Barca. England simply got outclassed by a better team.
