With all white Argentina as current WC winners and all white Italy as the current EURO title holders it might not seem correct to say this, but the present, and certainly the future of football is black.
With the exception of its very beginnings, football has always been the sport of the working class, sport of the poor. The African immigrants in Western Europe are becoming more and more numerous, and they are the poor whose kids spend time outdoors to play football. There, in Western Europe, they find the perfect training facilities, the best youth coaches and so on, and they can develop like their parents couldn't even imagine. Football is becoming more and more about speed and physicality, and less about flair, and let's be honest, the black guys will eat the white kids for breakfast in this respect.
In short, we will keep seeing more and more Mbappes, Bellinghams, Jamals, and less and less Baggios, Pirlos, Messis, Platinis, Cruyffs, Cristiano Ronaldos.

The point of this is that Italy is fucked and so are we if we keep looking for players among white Italian youth.

I don't think so.

This might be true in the range of decent-good players. But when it comes to exceptional skill the lack of physicality will not matter in football. Yamal just decided a Euro semi final and he's not strong or particularly fast. He is, however, technically gifted. Football will never require just physical attributes. It's not like the 100 meter dash, where you know that people from a very particular region in the world have developed characteristics that make them virtually unbeatable for anyone else.

As for Italy in particular: I doubt Juventus or the Italian national team will only keep looking among Italian white youth. Did you watch the European Championship in track and field? Plenty of darker skinned Italians there. Which makes sense. Because maybe Italy isn't 'helped' by former colonies the way Belgium or France are, but there is an influx of immigrants in Italy every year.

I fully agree with this post.

Regarding black players lacking technique, this is not true for the players who have African ethnicity but were born and raised in Europe. These guys have all the genetically gifted physical attributes and are taught the European way of playing football from day 1.

Not saying that Italy need to do a France and play the best African XI, but in my opinion it is specifically the future of the wide forward/winger position. Players like Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, Saka, etc.

Indeed, but if the majority of those who'll play the sport are black, the chances that the best of the best are black too are bigger. Less and less kids are playing or showing interest in football, and that percentage is much higher among the white European kids.

Happy for Morata I hope he lifts the cup.
Me too. He deserves to give those lameassed Spanish fans their comeuppance for dissing on him for so long.

Qatar can't make fun of the German hosting with all the water that came down, because Qatar killed 600 people and still has no water.

But Germany really needs to take some grief for how poor the security has been at these matches. I mean, Morata's injury clash is no different than Goncalo Ramos' a couple weeks ago when security was trying to protect Ronaldo from the 6th selfie invader on the night.

Yeah, I can see that argument.

I'm not sure about Italy, but in Belgium at least there is just so much in terms of sports these days. And often, unfortunately, it is used by parents to increase their network. Sports like hockey, tennis or golf for example are quicly becoming more popular and it's not always the kids making the initial choice.

@Alen

Croatia should start accepting wide-scale immigration from West Africa.

Can’t wait to see the new generation of Croatians with names like Jamal Bilokapic, Lassana Milicic, Zlatko Assou-Malanga or Zvonimir Cisse-Agobo.
They're not stupid, they know that we'll try to enslave them, so they don't stay here and they go further north and west.
Jokes aside, Croatia's last two world cups are most probably the last good result of an Eastern European football team. We don't stand a chance anymore vs the West.
