It will be indeed. Though I wonder why is that? Where does the rivalry come from?

They met only twice at world cups and never in a knock-out round. Only twice in EUROs, and only one of them a knock-out quarter-final match (in 2012). It doesn't come even close to Argentina-Brazil, Italy-Germany, Italy-France, Argentina-Germany, or even England-Germany.
Club-wise, in the CL, Italian and English teams played only 4 finals (all of them included Liverpool) which is nothing compared to Italy-Spain CL finals (8), or England-Germany (6), even England-Spain (5).

So why are they such rivals? Did it start at Heysel, or maybe in the late 90s when the EPL was trying to become better than Serie A?
They're not.

Italians themselves don't really worry about England. They're a team like any other for them. Sort of like playing against Belgium or Romania. There is a much deeper rivalry with France and Germany.

I think fans of Italian football abroad detest the English, because they have commercialized football to the extreme and by doing so have taken away much of the attention on Italian football.

Why not the same rivalry with Spain, tho?

There is probably a starting point to this rivalry, but I think it also has to do with jealousy. In the way that the English are aware that they don't have Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, so they say "fuck it, these guys are superior". Spanish football is too different from English, and there can be no comparisons. But Italy are nothing special at first glance. No Pele, no Messi, no tiki-taka. Yet they win a lot and England doesn't. You know that feeling when someone who you think is not better than you gets everything and you get nothing. And why do they get everything? Because they cheat and they play unfairly. Then you repeat this year after year. The Italians defend themselves and there is your rivalry.
This is correct, but it is completely onesided. I am quite sure the English hate the Italians for the aforementioned reasons. But the Italians aren't bothered by them at all. They barely acknowledge them as a football nation in big tournaments. It's more that they accept the English have to be there to fill the spots.

Seems he fell off a clip since he joined Liverpool.

A final with England ain't really a big final imo, their history in both the WC and Euros are simply too poor. They're miles away from having the status of Germany, Italy, France and probably Spain also.

Yes they're a big football nation but I never seen their national team as anything prestigious. Germany, Italy and France also had way better players historically - not to forget Holland.

England is pure hype and nothing to show for it. Talk the talk but doesn't walk the walk.
This is precisely why it's going to be a huge occasion. They're not a traditional footballing powerhouse but they're the hype masters. They've got the richest league in the world and some of the best footballers ply their trade in their country. Their recent results in international football has been good too. It's going to be huge.

De Ligt is already a good defender, obviously. Even more so when you take his age into account.
But, for me, he's not one of the best (yet?) because he makes too many small mistakes.
I remember watching Virgil for like a year before his injury and remember him making small mistakes pretty much every match. So if he's the best in the world then surely MDL can be considered one of the best.

I was never more confident in a win than I was in 2018 when Croatia met England in the semis. Croatia's defense was below average, the attack was just ok. England had better defense and attack. But when one midfield is vastly superior to the other, as Croatia's was to England's, then the winner is always known. England with Rice and Philips doesn't stand a chance in a final against Italy.

His tournament is just over, but we cant let this kid's presence go unnoticed, what a player! Just a kid and plays in a game against a tough opponent like Italy, in an Euro semifinal, as if he was a veteran.

What a supreme player already at 18 (and we saw as Juve fans what he did at 17 in his CL debute vs us). Just quitely and consistently going about his way in ridicolous quality level at such a tender age, not even Iniesta or Xavi were this consistent at this age. Uncanny sense and quality to take the right decisions, open up opponents and play with subdued fearlessness that examplifies the consistent quality talent he has been so far in his young first top level season career.

Will be exciting to see this talent develop further. It wouldnt suprise me in a decade or two , that this kid turns out to be THE midfielder of his generation.

And here's the token clip of his young career so far, he is not your headlines or highlight plays grabbing only type of player, but man is he fun to see operate at any small moment during a game.

What’s the point of pointing this out?
Such talented players will never be recruited and retained at Juve, because:
- they are ‘too young’
- they aren’t of pure Italian descent
- they don’t okay enough back passes

Totally agree! Italy has created generations and generations of great midfielders since de Rossi times. We had montolivo, aquilani, and now Jorginho!

Jorginho will show the world that he is world class by bossing the midfield in the final, because what Italians do best is to reach finals and completely thrash the opponent!
Just like Juve!

5/9 in WC and EURO finals isn't that bad of a record. Not as great as England's 1/1, tho.

For the love of God @GordoDeCentral @Mark @Enron @JuveJay @icemaη @Dostoevsky , at what point does blatant spamming senseless full time trolling act like this not get past your treshhold of whats bannable? Adds zero to the forum, besides bring down braincells count scrolling past pure stupid and lazy attempts of being "provocative" in trolling.

Nocerino, Zaccardo, Pancaro, Sturaro too.
But they will still comfortably beat England.
Of course. When it comes to European finals, Italians are the best at winning it, thanks to Juve DNA. I say Italy will be three nil up by half time if the final is against England.
If the final is against Denmark, Italy will be two nil up at half time.

With the abundance of attacking talent, we have at least seven potential hat trick scorers in our first team.

Yes, totally agree!
Italy is Pirlo the player, England is Pirlo the coach. Easy win for the player.

Just joking. Italy is Pirlo the player. England is McKennie. Easy win for Italy.

My friend, not sure if you have only started supporting Juve. I’m sure all veterans on this forum will agree with my light hearted joke, because they know what it’s like supporting Juve for the past twenty years.

Tbh this kind of thing happens more and more now, I think the lockdown went to people's heads. I doubt a day goes by where some black footballer in England doesn't get sent monkey emojis after a bad game or scoring past someone. People are garbage.
