Key difference beeing france having CB depth and offensive options

germans have 0 strikers with gomez out. Khedira was missed alot cause Gundogan wasent there either.

Italy was missing all its differencemakers in the midfield and up front with Verratti, Marchisio, De Rossi, Rossi and Balotelli out.

they were allready extremely set back, and you want to take the centrebacks aswel ?

For the quality that it has, france is seriously underperforming as a team. Not as much as belgium whom have fewer quality and were twice as bad as a team, but still.

They are also young.

A complete selection of this france (with benz, fullbacks, players growing), and a solid gameplan, this france could be the closest thing to 08-12 spain in terms of domminance
I was talking about Italy in general or Juve without their defense , not this particular Euro squad . :) having to play a SF with 4th/5th CB option and brain fart-prone koscielny with a complete noob who made his debut in the quarter finals was far from reassuring even with no proper CF for Germany .
The full backs are old and washed up , Payet offered no cover for Evra , Pogba was played out of position in a 2 man midfield when Germany had up to 5 in the middle at some points with Ozil and Draxler cutting inside etc....

If anyhting it's Germany that should have exploited these shortcomings , instead they were reduced to meaningless possession and didn't create any dangerous chances until they were down 0-2 .
Like you said , this team could only get better in the next two years .

PS : Khedira's absence is being greatly exaggerated imo . Germany dominated the midfield with ease without him and France didn't offer much resistance ... It's not like Sami was gonna offer some defense splitting passes or make some unstoppable forward runs that France would've had no clue how to deal with .

his presence alone makes those around him better, hes such type of player that always makes the most intelligent plays both offensively and defensively. its easier for Kroos to play next to him than Schweinsteiger. besides, Bastian was the one who made the penalty which gave your team a great advantage so its not like it didnt affect Germany ;)

still, this win was fully deserved for the French. hopefully, Pogba and co. will win this tournament in convincing fashion

How was it fully deserved if they barely strung two passes togheter past the midway line, and were gifted the lead with on the rare occasion they got into germany's box.

I cant immediatly think of a more undeserved champion as this france tbh

Greece won a Euro by parking a good bus and capitalizing on opponents mistakes .

Yeah, but greece went trough in a group with portugal and spain, and eliminated reigning european champions France, and extremely strong Czech republic before eliminating the hosts.

They didnt got it on a silver plate

Still , France is arguably the second best team in the tournament and if they manage to convincingly beat Portugal in the final ,they wont exactly be the the worst winner in history .

France got a piss easy group(what a coincidence), got the most pathetic third placed team, then got iceland(should be england as they suck so hard). Got their first difficult opponent who despite beeing ravaged by the destructive game vs italy completely overplayed them untill they gifted a penalty

Then they meet the winner of "piss easy teams knockout section".

Germany, Italy, Spain and Kroatia were better then France. 3 Of those eliminated each other and the 4th one absolutely fucked up themselves against Portugal by losing the negative approach contest.

"deserving champion" has to be the most retarded cliche football.
Its not about 'deserving champion'

its about beeing gifted the title thanks to a near handpicked perfect route to the final, and disgusting luck when you finally get a decent opponent.

They were garbage against germany. Italy played 4x better without creative players, playmakers and forwards

You better hope they get overconfident now

Saying that Croatia and Spain are better than France is baseless assumption at best .

Let's see how France will do against Portugal ...i think it's safe to assume they'll do better than the 0 shots on target registered by Croatia .

It's actually about beating what's put in front of you and not resorting to every after-the fact excuse in the book. For someone who supposedly wanted France to win , you're leaving no stone unturned when it comes to making excuses for said win .From blaming injuries, to supposed fatigue , and even lowkey accusations of rigging draws .

If you're gifting easy goals while being unable to break a makeshift defense that looked shaky throughout the tournament, then you probably shouldn't be screaming injustice anyway .

You can only beat whats put infront of you. They had an easy route due to the 24 team format and thee fact that they topped their group.

I dont believe that they were garbage vs Germany. In the first half they had a good first 10 minutes then surrendered possession to Germany to the rest of the half. What did Germany do with that possession? Nothing, it was like watching a midtable side try and emulate a Pep team.

Italy being out is their own doing. If Zaza and Pele did take their penalties like they had got to the stadium via the short bus Italy would have gone through.
