Seems like the Russians came for an actual war rather than a drunken fight, it's shocking but also pretty laughable how they are allowed to run around in gangs with weapons, even get into the country in the first place, with little reprise from the French police.

England fans are the same everywhere you go, they're loud and drunk and make fools of themselves at times, but they aren't ready for what is basically a mob chasing them around with weapons.

A 50 year old guy getting kicked to bits when he's just walking around? Attacking fans that have family and kids in the stadium? Brainless scumbags.
both are equally disgusting to be honest, and i don't really care who started the brawl its simply not acceptable to act the way they acted specially with the presence of families who are just there to enjoy the tournament and support their teams. i can't imagine why some one would decide to beat another human being for football related issues honestly its RETARDED!

LMFAO English fans playing victims now. After they've been causing violonce whenever they travel abroad for decades. That being said both Russian and England FA should be heavily fined. I also hope they'll play against each other in the next qualifiers.

Nothing to do with football. This is all about bravado, causing chaos and notoriety. Most of these guys (Eastern European hooligans/ultras) are there to fight other mobs.
An England flag or shirt is like a red rag to a bull with these serious ultras, it's the prestige of fighting fans whose reputation goes back decades. And as you can see from Djanik's response, they still have that reputation. It's completely false though. Sure, you still have a few of the old guys who fancy themselves, or kids trying to bring back the 'glory days', but in reality most of it is stamped out pretty quickly over here. You get serious prison sentences, bans from every stadium. The 'top boys' from English firms couldn't even get close to the French border to go over for a scrap. What happens to the Russian neo-nazis? Seems to be they are given carte blanche to go around on rampages. The Russians - a bit like their fashion sense - are still stuck in the 90s.

I'm not excusing those England fans over there who are causing trouble. Apparently the French police think that being drunk and singing loudly in large groups warrants tear gas being fired into the crowds, but I suppose they are free to deal with it how they choose. Those fans that then turn on the police deserve all that they get.

The mindset of many of these people is the same - they are working class, they've probably saved for a long time to make the trip, they're extremely patriotic (more right wing element than your average selection of people), and they're going to get drunk and sing songs. That's a Friday night here. What the Russian guys are doing is premeditated and sinister.

England fans much like their national team. A bunch of bottlers. Smashing up bars and restaurants till someone comes along like the Russians to put them in their place and run off scared claiming to be the victims all along

 To both of the above posts.

I remember being in Jersey when England lost to Portugal in 2006, the Ronaldo wink incident when he got Rooney sent off. Jersey has a large Portuguese community, and idiots were going around smashing up their restaurants.

I'm really interested to see how the Russian World Cup will go.

That was such a spursy way to finish the match lol. I don't know why people criticize Hodgson for the substitutions though, adding Wilshere and Milner was just a way to add actual CM's to the team and thus protect the lead. It backfired sure, but it's funny looking at all the experts in other forums saying how they would've saved England with their subs, with the arrogance of hindsight of course lmao.
putting in wilshere was a stupid sub, he should have put on vardy considering the russians were on their knees struggling with the pace of some players. then again englands game management is very poor, they think they can sit back on 1-0 leads, with that frail defence? lol hodgson is a tactical terrorist it is easy to see why he has never won anything in his career
