De Bruyne isnt a cm, he's much more advanced. Nainggolan is doing it, but he isnt good at it. he's excellent at other stuff.

We have many players that we dont need hazard to perform well.

'there is no excuse to play poorly with the selection we have'. Thats a statement for the coach. But we dont have a coach. I agree, any respectable coach wouldnt have the slightest excuse. But we dont have a coach, so this does not apply.

It's also a statement for the players. We were underwhelming in Brazil and a big part of that was that the players were scared. They were afraid of a poor Argentina side and really only lived up to their potential in the game against the USA. Sure a coach can make a team better. But to be completely fair to Wilmots most people would play the same way he does.

Also interesting is that we have made some perfect additions to our squad in recent years. Carrasco is an excellent winger and much better than Januzaj. Batshuayi is the technical forward we lacked in 2014.

Germany & France both have the bigger names. it isn't about names though, belgium has a lot a talent/big names in their squad, but as a team they just don't play good football. a good coach might work wonders.

and no matter how bad italy looks, in a tournament like this they'd beat belgium. don't ask me why, it's just a feeling.

They don't. Wiki the latest NT selections. You'll be astonished at Germany's team in particular. They still use Podolski ffs. And their front three include Götze, Volland and Gomez. They don't even have ONE decent forward. In defense they only have Hummels, Emre Can and Boateng who have performed at a high level. Realistically though only Hummels can be relied upon completely.

but its still easier than playing France or Germany + these 3 teams will choke as usual. if Italy gets past the group stage thats definitely the easier path
True. I just hope they don't go out vs England. The shame would be too much.

We won against the USA, because it was an incredibly naive team that trew all organisation and defending out of the window and played a very open game. Against all that belgian talent, thats a bad idea. And we still just scraped trough.

Truth is, this is a fantastic selection, it just misses one CM playmaker. Just Imagine Verratti or Marchisio with belgium, how insane would that be. But thats no issue. We got a worldclass cdm, worldclass wingers, excellent technical forward with batshuayi, strong fullbacks.

Our defence is nothing near the unit it was a decade ago, but a coach can fix that.

You see, a good coach would easely make monster out of this team. We currently have no gameplan. Means alot of players are hindering each other.
Give this team to a good coach, that sets down a defensive unit and tactics. That lays out a gameplan and the offensive movement/passing when we have possession. Belgium would be terryfiyng.
We dont have that right now, we have individuals who want to win, but need a gameplan and tactical frame to do so.

Sadly, our football organisation is complete incompetence. An insane generation laid shadow over the issues (before the standard/kompany generation, huge questions were asked about our poor lack of talent, nothing actually changed, we just happened to get a sick generation).

Why this fucktard coach. Why. Every single coach in the belgian competition would do better.

Preud'homme, Vanhaezenbroeck. Hate their character all you want. These two would have won the world cup 2 years ago, and this euro cup. And the next world cup.

But no. Keep the idiot peasant. Fucking disgusting. I hope we dont make the group stage, so we get a new coach and win the worldcup instead.

Belgium are like the PSG of NT football right now.

They need a strong performance in this Euro's to justify that they can hang around with the big boys.

Right now, they are a tier below France,Germany and even Spain until proved otherwise.

What has Belgium been using in terms of a starting 11 recently?

France have a great squad on paper - Pogba, Griezmann, Lloris, Varane, Matuidi, Martial, Kanté, Payet, Koscielny, Digne, Evra, Mathieu, Giroud, Lass Diarra, Kondogbia, Schneiderlin, Mangala, Lacazette, Fekir, maybe even a wildcard with Dembélé.
Don't forget about Coman and Benzema. France easily have the most talented players along with Germany.

Lately Belgium have had to make some changes because of injuries. Ideal starting 11 (in the mind of our coach) would be something like:

Because of injuries we had to field a B-team versus Portugal. In our friendly against Italy we experimented, so I went with our last competitive game vs Israel:

Thibaut Courtois,
Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Lombaerts, Jan Vertonghen,
Marouane Fellaini, Radja Nainggolan, Axel Witsel,
Kevin De Bruyne, Christian Benteke, Eden Hazard

I don't think this will be our lineup though. Fellaini and Benteke seem unlikely to start. I think Wilmots might be very straightforward and predictable and change them with Dembele and Lukaku. He might also opt to play De Bruyne in central midfield and put either Carrasco or Mertens on the right wing. In defense changes will have to be made now Kompany is out injured. Easiest would be if Vermaelen is fit enough to play, because imo we don't have quality fullbacks and relying on two central defenders (Alderweireld and Vertonghen) to cover those roles is unfortunately our best bet.
