England v Ukraine

France vs Sweden

1-0 for engurland.
2-1 for the frogs.

Discuss.
France - Sweden - 2-0 or 3-0, Sweden is out already and there are poblems in the dressing room, so I don't think they would put up a fight for honor.
England - Ukraine - Ukraine will score, imo, but will probably open up at the back too much looking for the win (they have to win) and will be taken on the counter, so - 2-1 or 3-1 for England. Wouldn't exclude a scoring draw too here, though, especially if Ukraine score first.

Can't say neither Spain nor Italy deserved to go through more, but it is what it is. Spain was incredibly weak last night, with a lot of luck they beat us when they could have easily went home. Great performance from Croatia, especially from a limited player like Schindelfeld. Modric probably earned 10m more for Levy this summer.

Spain weren't really better. They were deliberately allowed all the possession and Croatia waited for counters. Even for much bigger and better teams than Croatia, this seems to be the only way to beat Barca/Spain. But from all the possession they had their first chance came in the 88th minute when Croatia went all attack with 3 attackers and two attacking midfielders, while in the meantime Croatia had a 100% chance, one good chance for Corluka on that penalty call situation and felt comfortable with every Spanish attack.
The Spanish now seem to be aware that in a better group they could have easily been eliminated and that is probably the reason why the media is attacking the team instead of celebrating the group win.

Btw, Seven, the much criticized mini-table rule is a big reason why Italy made the quarters ;)

Croatia would have easily kept the 0:0 if the mini-table rule didn't force us to attack.
Doesn't mean it isn't a poor system..

Settle down man. Has there been an Italian team with as many deficiencies as this? We don't have the WB's to play a 3-5-2, don't have wingers to play 4-4-2, no Trequartista to play 4-3-1-2, no attacking mids to play 4-2-3-1. Every formation is a problem. Our only class creative forward is 10kg overweight and just came back from the dead. Our other best forwards are a 34 yo whose never cut it at a high level, and a 21 yo kid who is nuts. Plus the whole team is only fit enough for 50-60mins.

There isn't much more Prandelli can do tbh,
Are you trying to tell me Motta should've stayed on the pitch the entire 90 minutes? Your best forward despite bring overweight has more class in his hair follicles than Thiago Motta's ancestors do, and for that reason alone, the 4312 should've only been deployed with Cassano in the hole behind Balotelli and DiNatale. The 352 brings the best out of Pirlo and I don't see how wing backs like Maggio and Balza are not considered good enough in those roles.

Please do not defend Prandelli here because its his choices that almost cost Italy progression tonight. And don't blame their deficiencies either. This team may not have all the talent in the world, but if they play the right formation, suited to their strength they can be a well balanced team. And believe it or not, they have one of the strongest midfields in recent years so theres little excuse for playing like shit with a weak mentality. I was disgusted at how so many of the Italian players were looking up at the clock in the 80th minute trying to salvage the result. They need to show more balls than this. Prandelli is the man who has to instill that mentality in them.

Seriously Uefa...

The Russian FA gets a fine of 30,000 Euros (Hooliganism)

The Croatian FA gets a fine of 25,000 Euros (Racism)

Nicklas Bendtner gets a fine of 100,000 Euros plus one match ban for showing his underpants with a different sponsor from UEFA's one.

The contrast, they sure have their priorities straight :howler:

Croatia

They could well be an example for any team who are going to play Spain further in the tournament providing they have the needed requirements to play similar tactics. Croatia defended really well as a team even though there's not one single top defender at their back. They let Spain play their game but every time they got the ball they had a plan to start an attack. Modric was man of the match (probably alongside with Casillas, which alone says a lot about how good Croatia were last night), Mandzukic was always a threat with his constant runs. They were really unlucky. Can't say they deserved more to be in the next round but I have a feeling that the Croats would have had a better chance of eliminating France/England.

Wouldn't it be unfair for the Russian & Croatian FA to get a 100 000 euros fine for something their fans are doing? They really can't do much about it. It's not as if the Croatian FA were at the matches and made monkey noises towards Balotelli.

Bendtner was 100% responsible for his actions, the Croatian & Russian FA can only be partially responsible for their fans.

Except Bendtner stands to be paid for what he did while the Russian and Croatian fans do not. Fine Bendtner 25k Euros, and he'll make 25k Euros clear with every violation if the sponsor pays him 50k Euros to do it: it's not a deterrent.

Not only that, but compare the degree of direct culpability and control the FAs have with drunk fans who happen to carry the same passport as them versus a player who decides to put on a specific pair of underpants and who decides to drop trou for a TV camera.

It's an apples and oranges comparison you're making. There isn't some holy list of UEFA fines that deems the egregious order of sins purely based on price. It's ridiculous to assign gravity based on the fine amount.

Their commercial interest obviously outweigh their social interests.

Cunts.
Rather, I'd say you've performed a lazy and convenient financial analysis and applied primitive logic that requires no more cognitive reasoning than a six year old is capable of. You're clearly capable of more than that.
