Except they're not disappointed. They went there to get drunk. Which is fine, but I don't understand why everyone feels this compelling need to point out that "although their team lost, they are still great fans".

THEY ALWAYS KNEW THEY'D LOSE AND WENT THERE TO PARTY.

How can you compare that with Spanish or Italian fans who are disappointed, because they go there to see football? The Irish aren't good fans, they aren't fans at all.
Have to agree with your assessment

It's not about their reaction after the game. It is about during. And the players are guilty of it as well. Ireland DOES NOT TRY to win.
What did Italy do but sit back and defend like pussies against a far more inferior team with a crap defense that Italy should of beat 4-0 but no they dont play to win they play not to lose.

I just don't see it happening, because if it ends 2-2, there will be a lot of pressure on Spain. Denmark and Sweden got away with it, because they are smaller teams. Even if their cheating was very blatant, people felt Italy had only themselves to blame. When one big team screws over another big team like this, the reaction is way more fierce. Spain will not want to be labelled cheats.
i just hate to have to trust xavi, Sergio Busquets and Xabi Alonso to go 100% for the win. its headed for a 2-2 draw.[/QUOTE]

Xabi Alonso is a gentleman. He will die fighting to not let it end 2-2.

Xavi and Busquets are scum. But they are highly criticised scum. They can't afford more criticism.

In summary we only stood a chance of qualifying had we got three points against Croatia. The players didn't click for whatever reason but to say that we didn't want to win is just an insult. You think Ireland went through the whole qualifying stages just so our fans could go and have a holiday?

Wow, they must be terrible fans for not expecting to win every game 5-0 and win the EURO. Of course they knew they would lose, they're in a group with the reigning euro and world champions, tmultiple world champions and a very strong team that had previously finished third and kicked out stronger teams.

If anything they're better fans because they went to support their team knowing they would lose.

By your logic only Spain's, Germany's, Italy's, Netherlands', France's fans should be there.

Sure, but that's not the point. People always say the Irish are great fans, because they behave after a loss. Well, why wouldn't they? They're only there to get drunk. The game does not matter, they assume they lose. The Spanish and Italians are sore losers, because they want to win. A loser loses, why compliment him because he behaves? He always loses, of course he'll behave!

In my logic the Dutch fans are admirable for not causing problems after their loss.

The Irish aren't admirable, because they expected to lose and were only there to get drunk.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE OR DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN IT IN WORDS THAT HAVE FEWER SYLLABLES?

Who are you to say that we are not dissapointed? im gutted! me and all of my friends had a great buzz about this and we really thought we could of gotton out of this group we really wanted to win and believed so we are the fighting Irish!! So what if we dont cry and complain after getting beat in a football match our country has been a very depressing place for years and years and we have always dealt with our hardships the way we know best... get drunk and have fun!
