Nearly never though. It's just not the attitude an athlete should have. You know why the US do great at the Olympics? You know why Holland, even though they're a small country, often have a great football team? Because they are countries where the people believe you can win. You have to put the bar high. The Irish put the bar as low as possible. I will not admire that attitude.

Frankly, I have no idea what he's talking about because I don't even remember the situation. I either missed it or I was sure at the time that it wasn't a penalty.
Jelavic pulled Chiellini down, then fell over Chiellini himself. It really wasn't a penalty and I'm sure you'd agree if you saw the situation. Really weird from him to say that.

Bilic: 'Ref favoured Italy'

......However, the tactician also criticised the performance of referee Howard Webb.

“Many Coaches don’t want to talk about referees, but I do not agree with this approach. I might not be objective, but there was a clear penalty on Nikica Jelavic, while the free kick for Andrea Pirlo’s goal didn’t exist.

“I am not trying to stir up controversy, but the referee favoured Italy.”

Do some research on Ireland and our sporting achievements please.

No man I have no idea why the US does well in most sports.:D

Dude, Ireland does pretty well in other sports. Their football team is over-achieving poop at the moment, but that doesn't mean their fans can't enjoy themselves and be proud that their country is represented.

No one here is telling you to admire what you perceive to be a "loser mentality" nor is anyone here asking berate other users over it. If it bothers you so much then why get off your high horse? Jogging on would seem to be a bit less stressful, yeah?

I'd like to hear him say it. Not "Our players play for Derby", "We're a small country", "Spain are World Champions".

I want to hear him say they suck.
I said that. :D

And why do you need him to say it? What's the matter with you? Whatever it is, I want you to know Andries, that it isn't your fault?

Why don't you shut the fuck up you muppet. You've clearly got something against Irish people seeing as how you're so passionate about the topic. At least we qualified for the tournament despite having less skilled players.

The matter with me? People are always hating on Spain, Italy and Holland, because they are the exact opposite of Ireland. They are players who strive for greatness. I wonder why our society hates people who strive to be great and admires losers. Where did we go wrong? Is is this "everyone is special" crap?

Are you talking about football or about all sports in general? Because if they haven't set the bar high in football it doesn't mean it's a general attitude among their athletes.

Mostly football. A lot of Irish people (not necessarily athletes) tend to duplicate that behaviour though.

I don't hate Italy, I love Italy and Italians but hate their fans. Clear?
