Don't be so sure. The problem in France is that they don't have any great coaches and the standards are very low. How else do you explain this parade of nitwits that have achieved the pathetic 2002 and 2004 fiascos, followed by a superbly mediocre but fortunate 2006.

Domenech in 2008 is still trying to play off the team that Aime Jacquet, the only great coach, built in in 1995 and left in 1998!! Lemerre who followed had all the players still available and 2000 was great. But then came 2002, leading up to which France was basically the best team in the world and delivered the EPIC FAIL. Santini presided over the horrible 2004 and then came Domenech whom we know all too well.

So they fire Domenech, great. So what? Who's gonna replace him? Most likely some coach whose only experience is with the U21 team, because they like giving the job to the assistant. And then yet more fail.

France has the talent pool, but they don't have any Lippis or Capellos or Hiddinks. They have mediocre coaches, the best of whom might actually be Deschamps at the moment.
i understand that the coaching pool may be a bit shallow but they have to realize that he is not only a moron but completely unprofessional. deschamps should be a candidate for the NT coaching position and if not him then a mediocre coach will have to do. we all know that on the NT level coaches don't win, they build. and in this case domenech has built a house of wax.

It makes you wonder how some of these guys become coaches. I mean, what Domenech did today tactically just made no sense whatsoever, and everybody here knows it. What, do we have a better perspective watching the match on television or something?

Ambrosini isn't as bad as you guys think.
He's a good player, but come on, him over De Rossi?

De Rossi is better at every aspect of football.

Domenech is awesome.

The French can't break down the tight defence of a team who offer no real attacking threat, so he brings on Nasri.

No, he doesn't take off one of his two DMs, he takes off Benzema. :lol2:

Domenech is a legend.
thx for the sig material

I don't understand the fuss about Ambrosini. Don't we all want the Azzurri to fail? I thought everyone was happy at Cannavaro's injury and Donadoni's choices.
I think Donadoni knows best, and will be a fantastic manager for Italy for years to come.

Deschamps already nominated himself a few years ago, and our collective reaction was... :shifty: Ok, what he did with Monaco was impressive, but ultimately he didn't even win the league a single time. And then he went on to... nothing. One season at Juve in a lower division. Usually you pick the best coach in the country for the national team. And this is supposed to be an accomplished coach?

i'm not saying that DD is the best man for the job, i was just throwing out names to replace RD. and since your point is that RD is the best france has at the moment then how many failures will he have to endure the NT until he is released? his public spats with players costs the F.F.F. wins, money and contention. i don't know if the F.F.F. would ever outsource their coaching like England, korea and other countries do but they need to do something about RD

No, he's not the best. I mean he can't be, there must be someone at least slightly better than him. But most likely the guy who'll get the job is no better than Domenech. Just look at the history since Jacquet.

They should outsource, yeah. Hire the best candidate instead of nominating your own idiots from within the FFF just because they've coached the younger national teams.
