    Ambrosini will start :lol2:

That's great considering how well Milan's midfield functioned this year.

    - i guarantee that domenech will be fired after they are eliminated.
Don't be so sure. The problem in France is that they don't have any great coaches and the standards are very low. How else do you explain this parade of nitwits that have achieved the pathetic 2002 and 2004 fiascos, followed by a superbly mediocre but fortunate 2006.

Domenech in 2008 is still trying to play off the team that Aime Jacquet, the only great coach, built in in 1995 and left in 1998!! Lemerre who followed had all the players still available and 2000 was great. But then came 2002, leading up to which France was basically the best team in the world and delivered the EPIC FAIL. Santini presided over the horrible 2004 and then came Domenech whom we know all too well.

So they fire Domenech, great. So what? Who's gonna replace him? Most likely some coach whose only experience is with the U21 team, because they like giving the job to the assistant. And then yet more fail.

France has the talent pool, but they don't have any Lippis or Capellos or Hiddinks. They have mediocre coaches, the best of whom might actually be Deschamps at the moment.

I don't understand how the FFF can tolerate that douche (and I don't mean "shower" in the native tongue). He clearly is a liability and picks tactics and formations that make the team underperform.

The team succeeded in WC2006 in spite of him, not because of him.

Credit has to go to Romania today for the way they defended, they left no space for the French to operate in at all. Still Domenech showed what a shitty manager he is, with the players he's got at his disposal, he must do much better. The team needs to be more adventurous and it needs imagination and ideas in midfield (Nasri).

The only positive out of this match was that the defence looked solid as always. I still believe the French NT will pass, as i dont believe neither Italy nor Holland are capable of beating them.

I don't agree, it's not like they played a negative lineup today. You don't get much more adventurous than Ribery and Malouda on the wings (who were both crap). Changing one player in a team that doesn't do anything is not going to magically turn it around (unless it's Zidane).

Nasri came in, and then what? Didn't change anything.

It's not the players that are bad. These are the same ones that big clubs salivated over and paid big money for just a couple of years ago. But look at them now and they stink.

I was thinking the same thing, Martin.

A new national team role: waterboy-coach!
