We'll soon find out given that Balotelli is suspended.

4-4-1-1 with Abate on the right and Giovinco off Aquafresca?
Luckily for Italy they are playing with little pressure against Belarus since they already qualified for the semi's, so it is the right game for Balotelli to be suspended.

Sure.

I meant that if the opposition is indisciplined it can be easier to play attractive football.

Serbia and Sweden have both struggled to create chances or get any real rhythm against Italy, because the Italians are very disciplined and well organised.
not so sure about the Sweden part...they were all over Italy in the 2nd half...Consigli was made to work pretty hard...and they scored an absolute beauty as well

That is exactly what they are thinking, imo. What happens if one of the three get injured though? Bench looks incredibly thin with Abate as the main man.
Because the coach is Casiragh.

Andrea Poli from what I've seen is really talented and is capable of giving the team some creativity, (with a good sense of goals, too), more than Abate. Abate is defensively stronger, reminds of me Pepe, actually. Casiraghi's idea, however, is to reply on the three attackers with the 3-men midfielders and even WBs focused on defending. In the match against Serbia, one of the reasons why Italian coudn't win, IMO, was they had limited attacking sources. I'd rather apply to only two attackers but with more attacking from the WBs and midfielders.

Sweden only had a couple of chances, which few chances considering Italy played the entire half with ten men.

Casiraghi was also foolish to play without a striker towards the end, as it meant that Italy couldn't hold the ball at all, which resulted in more pressure.

Italy were being outplayed by Serbia, so it was sensible for Italy to focus on holding on to the draw.

That is true, Italy did have to take that approach after going one man down. But I'm just not sure this team has another gear. This is probably what it will look like for the remainder of the tournament too.
Yeah, I guess we'll see... and Balotelli's suspension will hurt, even if he is a douchebag. Still, Marchisio really just stayed at home in front of the defense today - he can get more involved offensively, if he needs to.

I'm also wondering if Paloschi is still with this team. I saw him listed amongst the substitutes on ESPN, but I haven't actually seen him, or heard anyone talk about him during the games. I'm sure Osman would know the answer to this...

Alberto is pretty talented, and if he's healthy and with the team, he could potentially be useful.

Yes Paloschi is on the bench, and I agree with Juventine that Poli is really classy and creative youngster who deserves to play a little atleast. Him and Paloschi are youngstest oft he bunch besides Balo, and are mostly in the squad to watch so far it seems.

IMO they should play Cerci instead, more skill and cuts in. Abate is a traditional winger that hugs the line and challenges with pace, but not much skill.
:agree:

I've always thought of Abate as just a quick runner and nothing more, really.

I would also like to see more of Pisano, but Motta and Criscito are doing a fine job, so I don't mind much.

Motta is suspended for next game, so your boy will play :D

I like Pisano, decent player with good quick feet and lots of pace, but too short and physically weak too withstand direct challenges with his markers, is his weakness.

Just watched Balotelli's goal. Truly class finish, the guy's a cocky asshole, his celebration is almost identical to Zlatan's. It was inevitable that Zlatan's disgustingly arrogant attitude would have its influence on Balotelli but I never thought it would be to the point where Balotelli would even mimick Ibra's goal celebrations.

That aside, he's one of the most talenetd 18 year olds in world football.

If only he didn't play for Inter.

Dont see how Balotelli is more talented then Rossi at all. 3 years younger yes, but Rossi was an ace at 18 too, difference being had top class players like Rooney, Ruud, Ronaldo and et all ahead of him (While Inter only had Ibra being of any quality, plus he has the size and physicality to jump into senior footie quicker).

Rossi has trained and played in the EPL, A and La Liga which is something Balotelli hasn't experienced. Rossi has 92 club games at the top leagues in the some of best footballing countries in the world.

I think Rossi is the better player right now. Talent wise, who knows. One is 22 the other is 18. That stuff will play out over the years and we will be able to tell.

I don;t thnk there is any doubt that both are special talents.
