To be honest mario has played in bigger games and has been decisive on bigger stages than any of the Liverpool players. He is definitely the best pk taker on the team.

It is such a shit move from gerrard to criticize him live on TV with his fellow analysts. If I was brendan i'd punish gerrard.
Gerrard's made bigger penalties and scored bigger goals. But yeah I agree he's a better penalty taker than Henderson. Then again if it's set up before the match that Henderson takes the penalty, Mario should probably obey the manager's wishes. Still glad to see him score another winner.

I guess i should have read the news first... Ok, so Gerrard didn't even play and Henderson was the captain then, the question is did Henderson allowed Balotelli to take it or did he just take it?

Doesn't matter who we think is the best, if he isn't the official taker he's got no right to take it unless he's allowed by him. If i was Brendan i would punish the dumb fuck instead, not Gerrard.

Just read AFL_ITALIA's comment if Gerrard "gave the nod" then fine. But did he criticize afterwards or am i missing something?
Gerrard's injured. It was Henderson who was captain and penal man.

Balo took the ball and wouldn't give it to Hendo. Sturridge intervened. They talked about it and Henderson let him take it.

Got it. So yeah I'd punish the dumb fuck, no doubt. Balotelli had no right.

And i think Gerrard has done enough for that club to have the right to say whatever he wants, especially when some dumb fuck like Balotelli disrespects not only the taker but the manager's wishes as well.

Well yeah Gerrard has been around since forever but he wasnt even on the pitch today. Regardless of the rules, Gerrard should not tell out his team mate to the media like that. This is classless and creates controversy that Balo and Liverpool in general really doesn't need.

I think Balo is in the worst environment he has ever been in being with Liverpool. At the start of the season he was thrown under the bus multiple times by Rogers and he was used as a scapegoat by Rogers and by the media. Now that he is getting back to form and media pressure is a bit less, Gerrard creates this controversy about him. Pool doesn't seem like a club that would protect its underperforming players, unless they are english that is.

Regardless. Gerrard shouldn't go tell on him to the media and should have dealt with it inside. I've never seen a captain do that before.

I don't know about all that.

Which part is it you disagree with?
Rogers using him as a scape goat at the start of the season, Gerrard being classless in publicly calling him out, or english players getting more protection than balo?

IMO he can say whatever he wants, he's earned it. Football has become so boring and pussy-like to a point where it's like it's wrong for a player to have an opinion.

And btw Balotelli deserves no protection, not at Liverpool or anywhere. The dumb fuck won't change and it's been proven today.

To be fair though yes, it does seem like there's a lot more going on that we don't know about and it surely looks like he was never welcomed there.

Wait, you are a pool fan aren't you? :D
1) No one has gotten more stick this season than Sebastian Mignolet. Even Lovren has been called out in the papers, same with Markovic. Balo got his share of "wake the fuck up" from the manager and with the exception of Lovren, those players have been improved.

2) Gerrard can say what he wants. He's a legend, the captain, the star of the team. Don't break the hierarchy simple as that. If you do, don't be surprised when captain fantastic comes down on you.

3) The english players on the team don't get protection. They haven't needed it this season. Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge, Lallana, Ibe have all been solid. The only guy that's really been protected by the manager is Skrtel.

There is no such thing as earning the right to say whatever you want. A captain should motivate his team and take the pressure off of him. As should the coach. Liverpool is doing the opposite of that. Rogers was blaming balotelli for his own failures during the first half of the season while he barely said anything against the greater and more expensive flops like Lovren, Lallana and Markovic who did have a pre-season with the club and weren't last minute panic buys.

Now Gerrard calling out a player who has is now finally performing and who they are in dire need of. Thats classless and stupid.
You won't see Buffon or any other captain with a brain do that. Gerrard is acting like Casillas' wife. If Buffon does something similar, I'd be questioning his wisdom too.

Rogers should 1) give gerrard a talking to 2) force gerrard to publicly apologize to balo and 3) give balo a warning 4)tell the media that there is no problem and that Pool deals with these things behind closed doors.

Yes, there is. For a player of his background and his story with the club, definitely there is.

Not when his playmate disrespects everybody, people he's known for ages. Who the hell is Balotelli to overrule the coach's decision?

Maybe he deserved it. Or did you forget how he used to be with Mancini? Balotelli is an uncontrollable child.

And no, i disagree with pretty much everything.
