GLORY HOLE MAN UNITED !!
Ronaldo was actually my vote for the best player on the night for Manchowder. Giggs was atrocious, and Rooney never showed up. So I would have to say Rooney was the biggest chokemonger on the night.
Of course, the opposite is true. Messi was fine and all, but I thought Puyol actually made all the difference for the club tonight -- more than anyone else. Never thought I'd say this of the guy, but he deserved Man of the Match.
Ronaldo showed up in the first half of the first half, but then he disappeared and was waltzing around like he already completed his move to Real. Perhaps he already has. But I will admit that he showed up far more than the English Pele, Rooney, who choked once again in a major match. Seriously, that guy is overrated as hell.
In my view, having Puyol play as a fullback on the night made the difference. Considering he played out wide, he was able to use his tackling skills and fight to subdue Rooney and Giggs, something he wouldn't be able to do inside. That was key.
After Yaya did great at CB at Stamford Bridge last time around, it was smart for Pep to field him there again. Puyol's tackling and tenaciousness is too good to waste inside instead of deploying him on the wings, especially when you have two tall players to deal with crosses.
Props to Pep.
