Why I think Essien edges Xavi is because he's a football player where Xavi is a midfielder. I think Essien is a more educated footballer where Xavi has the better moves but these moves serve him only as a midfielder. Essien can excel in almost any position on the pitch.

Xavi is impeccable. He has everything and is super consistent. Iniesta is excellent too and can play anywhere. I remember Barca played him at LB a few years back when they had injuries.

I think the best CM in England is prob Essien .. Gerrard is great but he hardly plays as a CM anymore.

We got some good ones in Momo and Marchisio though.
