Chelsea stopped Messi even without using the filthy tactic of Alen btw :D
Too many factors of why sometimes player wont or can't perform. It's not like they achieved something big by stopping Messi. Lionel wasn't good himself before being stopped by his opposition. Bad ball control and a bit slow.

I think pressure got to Messi on that game. Everyone was shouting that he will make the difference. As a result, he didn't play his game.

My heart went out for Henry's fall. It sure was a horrible moment.

I also think he should have been subbed instead of Etto.

I must say, Henry's fall looked like a penalty when I saw it, I don't think he was falling, and the defender clearly pulls him down. Can't believe drogba missed that chance, and Eto'o's run deserved an earlier shot ;) loved seeing terry get megged :D

not quite sure why everyone thinks Chelsea are through at this point, today their whole game plan was to have 10 men behind the ball, which worked. At stamford bridge, sure the impetus will be on them to attack, which will leave a lot more space. I would say that the tie is finely balanced at this point, and could definitely go either way. I hope barca go through, and Fred, good luck against manure tomorrow!

Oh, right. He scored from panalty, though. But, anyway, Barca will need Messi on his best to win this. I don't believe and Caceres and/or Pique can stop Drogba

    They did today.
But Chelsea almot played with ten players defending today. I'm pretty sure that at Stranford they will attack more. They will be more aggressive, that for sure.

I hope Barca make it to the finals. I can't stand Chelsea, and love Guardiola.

I was only able to get out of work for the second half, but really, Derek Rae and Tommy Smyth kill these games for me; ESPN's coverage is always so biased towards the EPL teams, that it makes listening to these matches almost unenjoyable. If an Italian team had played the way Chelsea did today with 10 men completely jammed behind the ball, it would have been "anti football" and "uninspired", but when it's Chelsea, it was described by the announcers as a "defensive masterclass."

Barcelona had something like 70% possession, and 19 shots to 3. In the second half I watched Chelsea concede numerous dangerous free kicks around the penalty area. Alves hit the top mesh of the net on a FK that just curled over, Bojan missed an empty net with a header on an absolute gift of a cross (Alves again), and Cech did well to fend off an absolute bullet from close range (on the right side... Can't recall the player at the moment - I was eating). Hleb was all alone with the keeper on the left, and again Cech was in perfect position and made a great save, Eto'o also had an opportunity where he was just about all alone in the center, made a nice move on the recovering defender, but really waited too long and Cech had a relatively easy save.

I didn't see the first half, but for me the second half was all about Barcelona not taking there chances - big props to Petr Cech for this draw. Chelsea barely got out of their own freaking half.

I agree with you. But the irony is that they decided to be aggressive where away goals don't count for them but do count for the opposition. This is the flaw in Chelsea's strategy that, IMO, may be their undoing.

They tried to counter-attack all the time. They almost did with the chance that Drogba had, saved by Valdes.
And then everybody says that English football is the best in the World :melayyanandmessi:

I have to agree. They would have called it a crap boring game ruined by negative play.

Cech will deliver on the opportunity to screw up. Mark my words.
