Inter had a very strong team when Mancini was fired and when Mourinho took over. At the summer Mourinho strenghtened the team even more (or he at least tried to) by spending +50m eur on Quaresma, Mancini, Obinna and Muntari (looking at how well and how much the first three play this season, that's 35m eur down the drain).
The goal was the champions league of course. They didn't win it, and it's ok, only one of the many great european teams can win it afterall. But when you look at Mourinho's record in champions league with Inter you'll see that he was actually an embarrassment. He was second in his group behind Panathinaikos. He won two, drew three and lost three matches with a negative goal difference (7:8) and without scoring a goal on the last 4 matches, losing 3 of these 4 matches.
In the league one can argue that the stronger serie A is a reason why he isn't better than Mancini was last year. It could be true, but i'll share the facts with you anyway.
At this time last year, after 27 rounds, Inter had 64pts, 9 pts more than the 2nd placed Roma. This year they have 63pts, 7 more than the 2nd placed Juve.
Even here Mourinho is worse than Mancini and there isn't an improvement.
In the Coppa Mancini was always going all the way to the final and winning it sometimes, while Mourinho will have a hard time to get to the final after the 3:0 defeat from Sampdoria. No improvement again.
In other words, The Special and highest earning coach in the world did shit for Inter and his only achievement so far worthy mentioning was introducing a primavera kid to the senior squad.
Bravo, bravissimo Jose.
