By the time we play Zenit shouldn't Chiellini be back? Well I hope he will be, especially for the November clash in Russia
He won't be for the first match and that's what scares me the most. Giorgio is the kind of player that can handle a powerful forward like Pogrebnyak, who's great in the air and good with his feet.

nice review Alen:tup: Like you said, everyone is used to seeing this from zenit, if you ask me if we can get poulsen and sissoko in their faces and distrupt the ukrainian midfielder, tymosuck we could unravel their midfield. It seems to me like tymosuck is the player that this team is built around, not arsharvin.
look at their defenders, they are good as a unit but they almost always need tymosuck there to help them out of trouble, we get him out of the game I reckon we could give ourselves a great chance

Yeah know what you mean. Zenit in the Uefa last year where impressive to say the least, and since they are keeping Arshavin, it is a major boost for them

Manchester without Ronaldo = 0

Zenit were ok, nothing more. The game we're all used to see from them. But they've shown way too many weaknesess at the back and if Ranieri won't be able to use this in our advantage then he's indeed an idiot.

It's a very good thing that ManU were dreadful, especially at the back. We're also pretty bad at the back and this match was a good example of what should we expect.
The good thing is that Zenit play the ball at the middle and on their left side all the time. At the middle we're much stronger defensively than tonight's pathetic Manchester, while on the right we should pray that Arshavin and Danny won't terrorize Grygera. It's a relief to see that they don't use their right side where Molinaro will cover.

Pogrebnyak scares me the most. He's pure power and Mellberg+Legro will have to give their best.

I believe, actually i'm sure, that we have more quality than Zenit (or at least the Zenit i've seen tonight).
Don't let this match fool you. Manchester were disasterous tonight and only Tevez tried to do something.

Oh, and we mustn't attack like crazy. Counters are Zenit's strongest weapon while our back players are our weakest link. We must play patiently and put as many balls possible in their box. Their defenders are weak ( Krizanac is a starter. The same Krizanac that can only dream to play for the Croatian NT where Knezevic holds his place) and our attackers are strong technically and strong in the air.
exactly same thing i got from the game.
no long passes,no crosses, everything on the ground with little passes and in their left side.juventus can handle their attacking process, and our forwards defiently can own their shaky defence.

the one think we should be aware of is their counters which looks realy fast and dangerous to me.

with complete juventus (zanneti-sissoko specially) there shouldnt be any fear of zenit.

And something eslse,Roony could hit header above their defence many times, what can amauri do to them ?!

Yes, Tymoshchuk is their main player. Everything starts from him. He's a terrific player.
You said it, we must distrupt him and we have the right players for the job.

Manchester stood no chance with their midfield tonight. Tired Anderson, Scholes, Fletcher and Nani were awful defensive wise. Sissoko, Poulsen, Camoranesi and Nedved are a different animal and i doubt Zenit can do whatever they want in midfield like they could against Fletcher, Scholes and Nani.

Not to mention a Scholes Anderson partnership is just never going to work, way too unbalanced imo. Zenit are a good counter attacking team too, they should not be underestimated at all.

quite possibly the most overhyped player I have watched in quite a while.

Vlatko is right, stop pissing your pants people... Zenit is not the same that won UEFA Cup last season, they have an insane schedule and already seem worn out and we sipmly have more quality!
O really???

Zenit is much much faster than we are, yes they are strong, but if they can outpace Manure they are too strong.
I remember Manure out-muscle us and only Sissoko and Chiellini could stand their ground.
But where Zenit impressed me the most today, is their abusive efforts to run and cross, using the "air game" in their favor, long balls and headers were the majority of their game, before Danny and Arshavin took over.
All the EPL teams master this game and every team that tries to beat them there fials, we failed too, but the tall Russian guys managed to beat the EPL master onn their field of expertise.
They were faster, stringer and even better in the air game.
Our capable DF we have on the interceptions, its Chiellini, but he is just one...

Danny dribbled through Ferdinard and Vidic, who is going to stop him??

As for the right side, their captain Tymochuck will rape Molinaro so hard, that he may finally choose to quit football as a player and become a linesman!

this dosen't mean that we should have the fear of god in us when we go out there on september thte 17th. We need to play confidently, the least likely thing we will do though is underestimate our opponents

Hopefully...
But, saying that we have 80%more chances over Zenit and
knowing that they have a much easier program than us, is an overstatement,
we should consider them as a major threat to our goal...

Agreed.

I've always liked Tymoshchuk and I wish we got him instead of Poulsen, not to take anything away from the latter.

yes about the programme, theirs is easier, but this is the champions league we are talking about we should go out there and for 90 mins just think soley on putting our best into and then winning each game, the group stage is a short and brutal end for most teams, look at marsielle last year so close to getting through then they f'ed it up right at the end. Thats why every minuite we have will be decisive and invaluble. Now i'm not saying we should go kamikaze style all out attack but we musn't decide to be so consious about zenit attacking us, i'm sure we will respect them, why? because they have earned their respect by beating some of the best teams around.

You got to be kidding me !
Tymoshchuk doesn't play as winger at all. He's a defensive midfielder for christ sake. Hard worker that defends most of the time and when he goes forward he does that stricktly from the center. How the hell is he going to rape Molinaro ?

Edit: Oh, maybe you mean defensively ? Because Tymo defends all over the pitch but it's his right side that he defends most of the time.
If that's what you mean then i agree. Molinaro better stay at the back because he stands no chance against Tymoshchuk in Zenit's part of the pitch.
