Control the game= having things under control = going according to the plan.
Chelsea were doing everything according to the plan. Give them possession far from the goal, counter whenever there is a chance for that. Only the poor finishing betrayed them. I mean, not a single shot on target for Barca and not a singe shot close to the goal for 93 minutes. They could have played without Cech.

Stop thinking that having ball possession means outplaying the others and having the control of the game. Barca couldn't play their game, Chelsea could. That means that Chelsea had the control.....until that 93rd minute goal, that is. :smile:

Now thats true. As much as i hate Chelsea, this is exactly how i define "controlling the game". Chelsea came in with a gameplan and executed it, they did not want possession and they knew(or thought) they can't compete with Barca for ball possession. So they let them have possession but didnt give them time or space on the ball and played with 3 layers of defense so that that possession becomes valueless.

Barca scored with the only shot on target they had though, it was a great goal and a terrible mistake by Essien. So credit goes to them for that.
